The "tests" had mainly just consisted of Leorio drilling her about her memories. She was forced to recite every event that she could remember in chronological order, and then recite the events in reverse order later on after a couple of different "tests." The girl was asked about various political and pop culture related things; such as who was the current High Chairman of the Hunter's Association, and if she could name the bands who had sung extremely popular songs. At one point he had visibly placed a coin in his pocket, asking her to remember which one he had stored it in. And, at the end of the extremely short session, she had to point out where the coin was.
Riza wasn't entirely sure about what the point behind each of the "tests" were; but she was pretty sure that the coin one was to make sure that her brain hadn't been damaged or something.
And while the medical student was doing his thing, the others were paying close attention as to whether she was lying or not. Small movements, from the direction her toes were pointing, to how many times she fixed her mask (which was slipping off of her head a bit at one point), were immediately noted by the remaining three males.
Leorio wasn't wrong when he said that the smaller tests weren't very reliable.
Sighing softly, the short haired raven leaned back in his seat. He ran a hand through his hair, and glanced over to where his companions sat. "Well, that's all I've got. From what I can tell, she's telling the truth."
"Same here." Kurapika nodded.
"Yep, Riza wasn't lying."
"She was fidgeting a lot, though..."
She wasn't sure why it mattered all that much, but the bluette was relieved that at they believed her; if only to a certain degree. Riza wasn't expecting any help from them, but was happy to know that she wasn't completely crazy. If other people believed it, then it made it a bit easier for her to do so too. All that was left after confirming the loss was to try to get her memories back. It was from here that the girl thought that she would have to do everything on her own. Despite the fact that the guys seemed like nice people, that didn't mean that they were obliged to help out. So, she was prepared to forget about asking, and to set of on gathering information on her own.
But apparently that wasn't going to happen.
Not as long as Gon existed, anyways.
The boy didn't even hesitate. He immediately jumped onto the idea, even without anyone proposing it first. "Let us help!" He exclaimed. A bright, energetic spark lit up in his eyes. One like it always seemed to hide in the brown orbs, but this one seemed exceptionally bright.
"Wait... help with what?" Riza questioned. The answer seemed fairly obvious, but she wanted to clarify just in case. Besides, it wasn't like any particularly sane person would volunteer for such a thing after just meeting someone.
Killua glanced up at his friend with slight confusion. "Yeah... with what?"
"Get your memories back, duh!" Gon grinned. "Who else is gunna help you out?"
Don't get the wrong idea, the girl was grateful for his enthusiasm. But, that didn't mean that slight social anxiety didn't kick in. Once again, the bluette found herself trying to disappear under the table. "You really don't...--I think I'll be fine on my...um..." Drawing in a deep breath, she tried to steady her heartbeat a bit. Riza glanced over to the more sane people of the group--aka everyone besides the excited little green kid, and looked at them kind of pleadingly. "He's not going to give this up...is he?"
With a shrug, Leorio jammed one hand into his pocket. "Nope."
"Awesome..."
The blond Kurta had been sitting in silence for awhile. He had seen this movement coming; it wasn't too hard to predict if one hung around Gon for even a short amount of time. Still, even he was having a hard time trying to figure out a way to go through with the boy's plan. This whole situation would be a lot easier if their new companion even had a ghost of a memory, beyond her first name. While helping her wasn't impossible, it definitely wouldn't be as easy as bribing Killua with chocolate.
Even so, they had just met Riza. Despite the fact that they had flimsily confirmed that she was telling the truth about the amnesia, Kurapika still didn't trust her completely. Until he was given a legitimate reason to fall to such measures, he--and no doubt Killua as well-- would remain suspicious until they parted for good.
After a few moments of mulling around his own thoughts, the teenager's gaze fell on Riza's bag. It looked like a simple leather messenger bag; although it was almost overstuffed with items. So, just based off of a hunch and the vague shapes that were pressed agains the material, he could only guess that her belongings for traveling resided inside. And it was here that a small idea popped up. If it proved to be fruitless, then they had other sources that they could use to track down the girl's past.
He had zoned himself out of whatever conversation had been taking place at the moment--most likely just Gon rambling about how he wouldn't give up on their new companion and blah, blah-- so he had a bit of a reason for suddenly interrupting it. Charcoal eyes settling on the amnesiac, Kurapika tilted his head to the side slightly. "Riza-san, would you mind looking through your bag for me? There might be something in there that could give us a clue as to where you are; or where you might've visited recently."
He would've done it himself, but wanted to at least respect the privacy of her belongings a little bit.
Blinking a few times, the teenager nodded; almost causing her mask to fall off of her head again. "Sure!"
Riza pulled the satchel onto her lap, and began sifting through it. She pulled out items one by one, and lay them on the table. Clothing items she left inside of the bag, but the rest was out for everyone to see. All the items consisted of were minimal survival supplies: like rope, a few small knives, bunsen burner, rolled up tarp, toothbrush, brush, a water flask, blah, blahblahblah, blahblahblahblah, and a little green card with a symbol consisting of two X's pushed together.
For a moment, the girl got extremely concerned, due to the momentary silence that seemed to overtake the four males.
Rocking side to side in her seat a bit uncomfortably, she glanced back and forth between them; trying to figure out what was going on. "Erm... Is there a problem or something?"
Faster than she could blink, a couple of hands darted forward in order to grab the card. Three, exactly, made a reach for it; but one was much slower than the other two, and in the end the silver haired boy was victorious. Keeping a whining Gon at bay with one hand, Killua held it up to his face with the other.
"Riza Murano-- HEY!" He read, But, that's about as far as the boy got, before the card was ultimately stolen by his best friend.
Remembering that one of the proctors from the Hunter Exam, Satoz, had told him about the numbering on the licenses, Gon flipped the card over and immediately looked at the last three numbers in the long line of digits. It was a bit hard to do so, what with also having to basically hold back the most promising member of the Zoldyck bloodline by himself long enough to do so. "286!" He basically shouted.
Trying to reach over the other's shoulders in order to steal the card back, Killua was all but laying on the raven's back. "Is that supposed to mean something?!" He grumbled. It didn't take long for him to regain the license, but it was still kind of frustrating that he had lost it for a moment.
Gon pouted, and playfully glared at his fellow 13 year old for a couple of seconds; muttering somewhat innocent curses under his breath as he not-really-silently declared to take revenge on the other.
His moment of silence gave Riza the perfect opportunity to speak up; as she was kind of mentally freaking the fudge out over whatever the heck was going on. "Y-Yeah, what does that number mean?" She pressed. "Is that card important or something...?"
{Dunno if it's necessary to mention this --probably not because I haven't made any of the character go all "OMF, ANGELS DO EXIST! THE PERFECT FEMALE IS AMONG US, KNEEL BEFORE OUR GODDESS" or something-- but I have no intention of shipping Riza with anyone. Any shippage will happen between canon characters --YAOI-- and with other OCs that will come in later books -- (did you see that this is called the Riza CHRONICLES?) And holy crap, long A/N.
Forgive me for giving pointless info}
