{May 1887, Morning}
After that incident with training, two weeks went by without Heisuke even trying to turn towards me. I had given the task to clean the garden every day. Heisuke and some of his members always walked by the same rooms, he never even turned to look at me. I wondered if it was because I didn't do good at training. At least I could be useful cleaning the garden. "What are you moping about?" A slight chill ran over my spine when I heard his voice. "Mr. Okita." I was a bit scared of him, he always made weird jokes that weren't even funny.
"I'm not, I was just resting a little." I tried. I was a bit sad that I hadn't seen Heisuke for two weeks now. well I had seen him, but he ignored me. "Well, if you say so. By the way, how is your training going?" He sat down on the bench beside us and looked up at the sky. I admired one thing about him and that was his eyes. They had a beautiful color that could be seen from far away. Once I was done looking at him I turned towards the sky as well, clouds were slowly sliding through the fast blue havens. It was truly amazing to see it from here. "It's not. The last time I trained with Heisuke he got mad and he hasn't spoken to me since." I was surprised how honest I was towards him. I didn't fully trust him or know him that well. Maybe that was why, they say it's better to speak with a stranger about your problems than with someone you know.
He chuckled and looked my way, our eyes met and I felt like I just said something I shouldn't have. "I see, I wonder what you two did then." A flashback of that day brought a slight blush to my face. Of course I wasn't going to answer that honestly. "What about me, I can train you just as well, maybe even better." The way he said that sounded a bit hollow. Like he was meaning them, but also joking at the same time. If I accepted would Heisuke be even more mad? "I don't know, what if he gets angrier."
"Don't worry about Heisuke, he's just a kid anyways." Somehow that offended me, what do I care if Heisuke is a kid or not. Ever since the training I have been thinking differently about him. At first I was honestly convinced that he was a kid, but he can be mature as well. I wondered why he even came here. "If you really want to know about him, you better ask him directly. I told you he was a kid. Kids don't give into their own mistakes. You have to go talk to him yourself." His words were kind this time and somehow inspiring. That wasn't something I expected from him, but well I didn't fully know him either. "Thank you Mr. Okita, I will go to him now."
Without even looking back I Ran towards the room Heisuke just entered. I didn't care that people would look at my funny, not even trying to hide my happiness. It would be good to talk with him again, to make up after a stupid misunderstanding. "Heisuke." I entered the room and two men looked up at me. One of them was Heisuke and the other looked just as surprised. He looked familiar, I remembered the day I went out with him in town. "Oh, I'm sorry for interrupting. I would like to speak with you after." I changed my speech and bowed down a bit. I was kind of rude just now.
I heard a small laugh come from the man I didn't know. "I see, it seems you have a rather unusual bird inside your cage." His words were strange and I looked back at the man with confusion. I noticed he was the man from before, Blonde hair and blood red eyes that stared right through you. He looked like a noble, the way he dressed and spoke. "Excuse me." I said before turning back.
"Wait, little lady, I wasn't done speaking with you." His movements were fast enough to be called inhuman. Within seconds he had moved from where he was sitting to behind me. His hand wrapped around my arm and turned me back. It felt dangerous to stand next to him and I was sure he wasn't here because of friendship. I noticed Heisuke's worry and I wondered what I should do. "Uhm, excuse me, but can you let go." The man was tall his body broad and hands big. I felt powerless even looking at him. For a while we just stood there, looking at each other and waiting for the next move. The man just smiled at me, he found something amusing.
"Then for our agreement, I will be taking this girl here." I noticed now that he was referring me as a girl, he knew even by looking. "Uh-Uhm, but I am." The man had turned towards Heisuke, he looked unable to figure out what to do. To be honest it was a real turn of events, it was happening so fast that we didn't have time to work it out. Someone cleared their troth and all attention went back towards that person. "I can't let you take away a member of our team." It was Hijikata, he looked as fierce as always and with his left hand already on his sword he seemed somewhat intimidating. Even more than he already does. The man holding me just gave a confirming snort and let go. He then turned towards the door and started walking. "I see, then don't complain if something like that is taken from you by force." With those words he had left, as if he turned into wind he disappeared.
"Heisuke." Hijikata's voice was so strong and demanding even I looked at him. Heisuke turned not really knowing how to answer. "I left you in charge of this matter so you could learn, I don't know what happened here, but try to be more careful in the future." His words weren't entirely mean, but the way he watched Heisuke seemed to tell more. Was he angry at him for breaking a bound, this was all my fault. "Mr. Hijikata, I'm sorry I busted into this room without thinking." I took a deep bow before the man and upon rising watching his purple eyes. "I didn't mean to interrupt the meeting, nor was I planning to make that person your enemy." Hijikata stopped my babble with his eyes alone. He closed them for a second before talking.
"This man would have never been an ally." Then he turned and walked away. I guess he didn't like the man that much, I wondered who he was and why he was here then. "Hana?" I just now noticed I had called Heisuke by his name, maybe I was a bit too strong on that, maybe he wants me to leave again. "I'm sorry, Hana, I made you a target." This was the second time he said my name. Wasn't he angry, I interrupted his meeting and even made Hijikata angry. "Please, don't worry about me. I was just overly excited and went doing things without thinking." I gave him a small smile telling him I was sorry. He stretched his arms and smiled my way. "I was kind of glad you came, the conversations wasn't going anywhere and he seemed to be getting annoyed." He laughed it off and stood up.
"Well, I guess I have some paperwork to start." He went passed me, I was unable to ask him about the day of training, but at least things felt better between us. I had to be satisfied with that. Turning back I closed the door and went into my room. I was done cleaning the garden and I had some time for myself now. I wondered how long I would be here, if I would ever find this person I was looking for.
I thought back at mother, she was still alive, I hoped and probably working with the kids in the village. Would they know she was sick, how long will she last for? I had no time to think about something like that, I had to find Koudou Yukimura.
