Meet The Characters

We're on book 3! Before I start I just want to say a huge thank you to all my readers that have stayed with me since book one and a big welcome to all the new readers to this series! So without further ado, let's get into it.

Since I started writing this book a lot of things have changed. I like to think that the the only similarities to the show now are some of the character names, the city and the firehouse and Truck numbers. Otherwise, all the storylines are my own. The main reason I'm doing this chapter is because in the last book we had a lot of character changes and so I just wanted to make it clear who who was. Some of the characters have the same personalities as in the show and so the ones below I have either changed or are new. Hope you enjoy!

Matthew Casey: Lieutenant of Truck 81, Gabby's Husband and Jamie's father. The main trait I have changed about Casey is that he can't function without Jamie (I mean this literally and figuratively.) Jamie means everything to him, as well as Gabby of course but mainly his son. It was made clear when Jamie was born that Matt and his son and a special bond that not to may people have with their children. Jamie is more or less a look-alike of his father and that is usually commented upon during general fire house chatter. Casey is the complete opposite of his brother. He is more reserved, more calculating and completely different when it comes to women. As proven in many chapters, Matt does not have the ability to flirt, well he does he just chooses not to - apart from with Gabby, he does plenty of that . He is incredibly uncomfortable around women who do flirt with him and Gabby usually takes this opportunity to mess with him. His relationship with his mother isn't the best, well to be honest, it never was. After his mother killed his father 27 years ago he never forgave her and knowing that she has been in and out of Jail after he helped her out makes him spark every time he hears her name. Casey is the fire fighter that the whole CFD strive to be and his loyalty and love for Gabby, his family and the firehouse is unmeasurable.

Gabriela Dawson: Gabby is Matt's wife. She is Jamie's mother and an ex- Navy special-ops soldier. Originally from England, her mother died when she was 15, her father passed away (supposedly) when she was 16 and on her way to fight her first tour in Afghanistan. Because she was such a brave and promising soldier, the US navy wanted to take her on to become a United States N-SWAT commander. She later did another tour in Iraq with her former boyfriend Jason Cole. On this tour she lead her men into a compromised building in which they believed that extremely dangerous weapons where being stored and guarded. In the end, her men where killed, (except Jason because he cowardly ran off after telling her that he would search the back) and she was seriously injured. She was taken back to the US for medical help. She was in Physical Therapy for Six months, Rehab for four, off for one then having to look for another job in the other. During the month that she was off, although she is a strong woman the thoughts and flashbacks really got to her and she turned to drink. She managed to get herself off it when she was planning to start her new life in a new place. The story goes that she was standing at the flight board in LAX, she counted down 26 (Because of Monica's birthday IRL) and whatever the place was that she landed on would be her new home. She constantly reminisces back to that day when family is involved and she usually questions 'what would have happened if she hadn't got on that plane to Chicago?' She is our beloved PIC on Ambulance 61.
