The Stakes, The Drama, The Plan

Javin and I were up and ready to go by 6 in the morning. Instead of running, Javin offered to give me a piggy back ride back to Baleton. Though I felt pretty good and quite awake I accepted his offer. It took us just over 5 hours to arrive back at the house. I felt bad that he was doing most of the work, but every time I insisted on running or carrying my bags he’d deny the offer. Spoiling me already.

When we arrived back at the cabin Sam was the one to let us in. As soon as Javin let me down, Sam tackled me, gaving me a huge bear hug.

“I was so worried he wouldn’t find you. Thank God he did,” As she pulled away, she looked at me curiously and examined my face. “You’re not pale anymore… You don’t feel cold either.” Pulling my hair away from my neck I quickly showed Sam Javin’s bite marks. Her eyes grew large and her cheeks flushed to a light pink.

I didn’t expect her to react the way she did. I could tell right away that she was pretty upset. Quicker than my eyes could spot, Sam punched Javin in the arm making him wince.

“Javin, how could you bite her?” Sam pushed him against the wall and pointed her right index finger at him furiously. Taken back by Sam’s unexpected physical outburst, I walked inbetween Javin and her, seperating the two of them.

“Hey! Relax, I gave him permission. No need to get physical.” I calmly explained, trying to get Sam to relax. She was about to say something when Derek, John and Alec walked out of the hallway standing side-by-side.

“Sam,” John warned as he took a few steps forward. With his eyebrows furrowed, he stared at her and waited for her to turn around and look at him. When she did, he continued, “What’s wrong?”

“He bit her,” Without even asking, Sam lifted up my hair and showed them the bite marks. Suddenly angry, Derek tried to attack Javin, but John and Alec held him back. “I knew this would happen.”

For the first time I felt disgusted by Sam’s behavior. Then and there, I and decided to take matters into my own hands. Grabbing ahold of Sam’s wrist, I lifted it away from me and pushed her (softly, of course) back. She looked shocked.

“I won’t let you judge either of us. I love Javin very much and there's nothing you can say that can make me regret letting him bite me. Nothing." With this I stormed out of the house and ran towards the lake. I didn’t look back to see if anyone was following. Honestly, I couldn’t give a crap if someone did.

Stopping at the cliff above the lake, I looked down and watched as the morning sun shone lightly through the trees and skimmed the water. Instead of jumping, I let my legs dangle over the edge. For some time I sat there waiting for something to happen. Me fleeing the house like that was immature but I just couldn’t listen to Sam… Her words were full of disappointment, disgust and anger. She didn’t want Javin to bite me; she doesn’t want us to be happy.

What a friend she turned out to be.

As I sat quietly and thought, I heard something (a branch or piece of bark) crackle from not too far behind me. Snapping my head around, I found myself staring at Blake. Not him.
