Drowning In Drama, Literally
Today went by extremely fast. The time just seemed to fly by, to disappear into thin air, as though everything happened in a second.
Yeah, today was ... dramatic.
*****
After I woke up, got dressed into a tank top, a pair of baggy jeans and my usual pair of sneakers, I walked into the kitchen to find Derek and Alec cooking breakfast. Derek was chopping a vidalia onion into bits while Alec was cracking a dozen eggs into a bowl.
Derek was the first to notice that I'd taken a seat in front of the granite island that borders the kitchen and dining area connected to the living room.
"Good morning, Ella. Sleep good? Coffee?"
"I slept very well, thank you for asking, and yes, coffee would be wonderful."
Before Derek could grab hold of the coffee pot handle Alec picked it up and quickly poured me a cup. "Coffee's comin' right up. You take milk and sugar with your coffee, right?"
"Yep." I said as I sat up straighter in my seat. Derek looked ticked off that Alec had poured my cup of coffee but was trying his best not to yell at him in front of me. After Alec had handed me my cup of coffee and went back to cooking Derek looked up at me.
"So you guys have any plans for today?" I asked then taking a sip of coffee.
"I'm going to exercise for a couple of hours and then I'm heading into town to go meet Lia for lunch. Afterwards, I'm going clothes shopping." Derek explained as he chopped the second halve of the onion.
"Wait, I thought you two are on a break. What gives?" Alec sounded very curious as to knowing what was up between Lia and his brother. I was too but it's not my business so I shouldn't get involved.
"Well, she asked if I wanted to join her for lunch. I wasn't going to but I thought if I did I could finally... End our relationship." Derek sounded very relaxed when he mentioned ending his relationship with Lia.
"Okay... But what if you don't? What if you wimp out or she starts crying and lashes out at you in public? You know she'd do that, too, 'cause she's the possessive type. Also, she's human so her emotions are raw." Alec was right about that. When humans are angry they usually scream, push or start crying. Most of them do this to make them look like they're the victim. Ninety percent of the time, the other person is, like, a damsel in distress.
"I won't wimp out. Besides, I've realized that she's not the one for me." Alec and I stared at Derek curiously. Does this mean he's found his mate?
"I met this girl and we really hit it off. At first, she didn't like me but that's only because she thought I was a pervert. She had reason; I was staring at her ass and, uh, she caught me."
"What's her name?" I asked then drinking some more coffee.
"Tiffany, Tiffany Marks. She's really something." Derek smiled cutely as he grabbed a pan, melted some butter and added the onion bits.
"What's she like?" Alec asked. He didn't look interested but he did sound curious as to know about Derek's new love interest. Too curious if you ask me.
"Pretty, but she doesn't like attention. She could model if she wanted to but she's very simple. Loves her family way too much."
"I'm happy for you, bro, but whatever you do, do not, I repeat, do not mention to Lia that you're seeing someone else. Okay?" Alec said as he seasoned the eggs with salt and pepper before cooking them on the stove.
"I won't. So," Derek lowered the heat on the onions and turned to face Alec. "What are you doing today?"
"I'm meeting up with a few other trackers. We're going to patrol for a couple of hours and then we're heading out to eat lunch at Begah. I'll be back home by 3 o' clock. So, Ella, you have plans?"
