Final Chapter!
"Hello Beth. I bet you're wondering how the hell I got inside aren't you?" Sarah asked in her croaky voice. At university she always kept telling me that I would never grow up to be a police officer and yet I got a first and she didn't. I would have continued to be a police officer but I only did that to fulfill by mothers wishes. Now I am here fulfilling my fathers.
"No, I have an idea." I replied; I didn't so I hoped that she didn't push the subject why further.
My wishes didn't come true. "How did I get inside?"
Quick think, quickly Beth, hurry up. Too long now she's noticed. "You always were bad at lying Beth." Sarah added. "I'll tell you. You were stupid and left the back door open. When I got off my train I heard screaming so I came in." How long had she been standing there? I don't remember anyone screaming. "As you probably remember I became a police officer and..." I wanted to scream my way out of here but there wasn't much I could do. Maybe I could run, she still didn't know about the secret escape route that I had been using. "Don't even think about running Beth. I've got surveillance and patrols guarding every single window and door." Damn it. I have no way out now; maybe I'll have to reason with her. Or maybe she was the one lying now. One peak out the window could cost me so I sat still. "Come down Beth." Why would I do that? So she could shoot be in the face? "I want to make a deal with you."
It was better than her coming upstairs. I should have got rid if more things before last night. The police have so much evidence they could torture and murder me and then be praised for it.
"Drop your weapon or I'm not coming." She automatically gripped it harder. Was it that hard to listen to me? And why could I talk to them now? It wasn't that hard to break into the microphone wires but she hadn't been that good with technology a couple of years ago. "I said drop it." She dropped it.
I slumped down the broken stairs almost falling three times. This wasn't how my plan was going to work. My door was still super locked but there was another addition to it now: a fire. I would have stayed to fight my corner but I had too many unanswered questions and my room of course wasn't suitable for visitors, especially those who work with the law instead of against it.
As I approached the bottom of the stairs I heard shuffling of feet; most likely to be Mark and Taylor's. "Beth, it looks like you haven't seen the sun in ages." Sarah said smirking.
"It's Britain Sarah what do you expect?" I had been showing people the true meaning of life and she was most interested in my skin care?
"Where you're going you'll see it even less." I saw that the back door was still open but I would never be able to run away from ten, twenty police officers. Especially after living on Tesco value pizza and ice cream for over a week. If Sarah caught me looking for an escape she didn't mention it. Why were my people still inside anyway? And why wasn't there anyone running in to arrest me?
"You never did become a police officer did you?"
"Yes, why do you think I'm here now?"
"To make the police force realise that you do have potential and to give you a job." She didn't say anything, I was right, she never had the capability to become a police officer she was destined to be a cleaner or something like that. I went over to the door that was open and locked it shut. We might as well have some fun while the building was still in one piece.
"Is that burning?" Charlie asked catching into the fact he now had even less time to live.
"Yes, I had some evidence that I didn't need anymore."
