Part 16

"S somebody H help me......................................AHHHHHHHHHH" a certain pinkette screamed.

'I am going to die; I am going to die. Somebody help me. Who the hell am I kidding, I am going to die, nobody will find my body, I bet the bad guy is gonna bash my skull on the concrete and leave me and then vultures will come and feast on my body. Nobody will realize that I am dead and come look me. I should have listened to Temari when she said I should stay close to the house.' Sakura thought frantically as she went running through the back alleys.

3 hours earlier

"So, Sakura what do you plan on doing today?" Temari asked.
"I haven't decided on what to do yet, what are you going to do?" Sakura replied.
"Sorry, I am helping out at dad's company today." Temari answered back.
"Ohhh, I was hoping that we could hang out together." Sakura said quietly.
"Well, we could spend the whole day together." Temari said back cheerfully.
"Great, that would be nice." Sakura said happily.
"So what are you going to do? Why not go and look around Suna." Temari said as she looked through her closet.
"Yeah I will." Sakura answered back.
"Alright, just make sure you don't wander off far. It can get dangerous sometimes." Temari said as she put on her shoes and left the room."
"Sure I will. What could happen anyway?" Sakura said to herself.

'What the hell was I thinking, it's a known fact that every time you say nothing can get wrong, and it's bound to get bad. Sakura thought while still running into the alley.

"When is this going to end, can't anybody hear me yelling here. HELP SOMEBODY." Sakura yelled.

Turning around a corner she started running into an alley and tripped over a trash can and skidded through the path.

"Owww, that hurts." Sakura said as she tried to get up.
"There she is, come on I found the pretty kitty." A guy with a scar running through his face said as he stepped into the alleyway.
"Shit" Sakura said as she stood up started running further back.

Sounds of someone running behind could be heard clearly as Sakura kept running even though she was feeling pain in her leg.

"DEADEND!!" Sakura said as she suddenly came to a stop.

"Well well, finally decided to stop and play kitten." The man said as he came into view followed by a two more guys.
"S Stay back f from me." Sakura said as she started backing away from them.
"Now now kitty, we aren't going to hurt ya, we just wanna play. Right guys?" the man said with a malicious grin.
"Yeah yeah what he said." The two minions said from behind.
"I am not really interested so how about you let me go and we all move on with our life." Sakura said with a fake smile.
'Yeah act coy with them maybe they might just change their mind. NOT!! Sakura thought
"I'll think we will pass on that offer kitten. Let's have some fun." The guy said obviously not interested in anything she had to say.

Sakura hit the wall and just closed her eyes waiting for something to happen.
'Right close your eyes; I definitely don't want to see what they might do to me' Sakura thought while I internally panicking.

"Hn, that was stupid of you." Came a deep voice.

Sakura opened her eyes and looked around her and saw the three guys lying on the ground out cold. There standing a few feet's away from her stood Gaara dressed in a black hoodie and blue ripped up jeans.
"Gaara!" Sakura said as she saw him walking towards her.
"You okay?" Gaara said in a stoic voice.
"I am fine just a little out of it." Sakura replied.
"You should know not to wander in alleys like that, it was very stupid of you." Gaara said in a reprimanding tone.
"I am sorry, I guess I just got caught up with everything and didn't look around." Sakura said as she slid down to the ground, tears started streaming out of her eyes.
"You're bleeding." Gaara said as he sat down in front of her and started examining her wound.

Sakura just watched as he went about wrapping a handkerchief around her leg.
"For now, this would have to do. It would be better to have someone check it out." Gaara said as he turned around with his back to her.
"Right" Sakura said as she wiped her tears.
"Get on" Gaara said.
"What" Sakura said suddenly surprised.
"You can't walk around with that, I'll carry you back to the house." Gaara demanded.
"W won't y you get t tired carrying me?" Sakura stuttered suddenly feeling shy.
"Just get on already." Gaara said with stoic expression.
"F Fine." Sakura said as she got on Gaara's back.

Gaara stood up holding Sakura securely and started walking away from there.

Sakura's POV

We finally reached home, I can't believe I've only been here a week and already I started calling this place home.
What happened today scared me, I mean I totally thought that I wasn't going to make it back but I am so glad Gaara showed up when he did.

I totally thought he was scary at first, but I am think he's softie deep down.
Flashback

Gaara was walking while carrying Sakura when she suddenly asked "Neh, Gaara what were you doing there anyway."
"I was walking around town, I heard someone screaming so I followed the screams and found you." Gaara answered back.
"Hmm, thanks for helping me when you did." Sakura said as she hugged Gaara from behind.
"Just be careful next time." Gaara said back with a smirk.
"I will be, but still I am really glad that you showed up. I thought you might just stand there in the shadows and laugh or smirk whatever you do on my misery." Sakura said with an air of knowledge.
"Hn, maybe next time I would." Gaara stated.
"Gaara no Sabaku, are you trying to make fun of me?" Sakura said with a fake hurt tone.
"No no whatever made you think that, if anything I think your screaming sounded like a cat being dragged into the water." Gaara answered back teasingly.
"I change my mind you are a jerk!!" Sakura said while hitting him playfully on the head.
"Hn." Gaara said back.

End of Flashback

'It was the first real conversation I had with that him, but it was over as soon as it happened. Although Gaara and I can be considered as acquaintances, but we can't call each other family yet.

I hope we could get along well. Although I get along well with Temari and Kankuro even after that whole fiasco in the beginning.
I can't believe I am going to be leaving in a week. Then it's back to be being Hikaru and no more Sakura.
Should I tell them about me going to an all-boys school, I haven't told mom about that yet either so itt would be technically wrong to tell Temari about that as well.'

"Sakura, darling dinner is on the table." Came the voice of Mebuki.
"Coming mom" Sakura shouted back.

'Doesn't matter I'll tell them maybe some other day and just enjoy myself with my new family which consists of my mom Mebuki Haruno no Sabaku, my new stepfather Rasa no Sabaku and my step siblings: Temari, Kankuro and Gaara. Maybe it's time I let the past go and step into the future.' Sakura thought to herself as she left her room to go the dining room.
