                                                     Chapter 10

As the air around us thickened, I grew more and more impatient and anxious, feeling as though the thick and unbearable silence was slowly drowning me in it, leaving no room for me to breath. After about a few awkwardly silent minutes which seemed like hours, Sam finally broke the uncomfortable silence by pretending to cough.

"He… uhm… when did he… uh… get" Sam pretended to clear his voice. "back?"

Upon hearing Sam's question, which seemed to be crossing everyone's mind except for mine because I was as lost as Christopher Columbus upon his discovery of the New World, Jack slowly and awkwardly sat down, his eyebrows frowning, his lips forming a tight line.

"He was let out last week." Jack said shortly, avoiding all the puzzled eyes that were fixed on him.

Losing patience and getting tired of missing a seemingly important piece of information, I opened my mouth before I could stop myself. "What the fuck is going on?!" I looked at everyone around me, my voice coming out in an annoying high pitched tone. Pulling my bottom lip into my mouth, I bit on it, waiting for someone to answer me. But to my despair, everyone just stared, as if they were shocked about my confusion.

"You haven't told her?" Troye looked at Jack, his eyes sending daggers in Jack's direction. Taken aback by Troye's totally new attitude, I felt the tension rise around the table as everyone looked from a newly angry and fuming Troye to a suddenly ready-to-attack, enraged Jack.

"What she doesn't know can't hurt her." Jack quietly whispered through gritted teeth, his jaw clenching, a visible vain popping out on his neck.

"I'm sure your brother won't agree with that." Troye narrowed his eyes, his hands clenching into fists.

"You don't even fucking know Finn!" Jack shouted, suddenly standing from the table, his face burning red with anger, his once green eyes turning pitch black. Ready to attack.

Upon noticing Jack's threatening demeanor, Alfie and Charlie too suddenly stood up, ready to stop him if he tried to launch forward.

"We know him enough Jack!" Troye was now shouting back, pushing his chair away from the table and standing up too in an eye level with the furious Jack who looked like he was ready to murder someone.

Feeling my stomach drop, I tried to move from my seat and stop whatever that was going on between Jack and Troye. However, I was pulled back into my chair by Zoe, who just shook her head no, signaling me to not even move. "Just let the guys handle it." Zoe slowly whispered in my ear, her voice shaking as she worriedly looked at Alfie.

"You know NOTHING!" Jack shouted as he pulled his tight fist back and brought it down full force on the table next to him, making all of us jump back as the table shook, the glass of water in front of me spilling over and onto my lap. "HOLY COW IT'S COLD!" I shrieked before I could stop myself as I pushed my chair out and stood up, looking down at my jeans which were now soaked in water. Pulling my head up, I looked around to find everyone's eyes, including Jack and Troye's, on me. Perfect timing to gain their attention huh?

Taking advantage of the moment, I pulled my pursed my lips. "Great! Looks like I pissed my pants." I tried to bring down the tension with some humor. And may I add, it worked.

After a few awkwardly silent seconds, everyone around the table broke into laughter, leaving Jack to stand there with an apologetic look written all over his once furious face.

Proud of my work, I looked over at Troye, who seemed to have calmed down and was now sitting back down, smiling and laughing with the rest of the crew. Sitting down, I turned my eyes back to where Jack was sitting, but was surprised when my eyes came across the vacant chair.
