I drove down the long, gravel driveway. It seemed endless. I finally curved into a small parking spot on the side of a tiny garage, and I saw Grams come out to the front porch of the particularly large, white, farm house.
"Deary, I haven't seen you in weeks! Come give your lovely grandmother a hug!" she was yelling from the porch as I slammed the door to my brand new, dark-tinted silver civic my parents had bought me for my birthday in the earlier in the year.
As I walked up to her, she smiled. She gently engulfed me in her arms, and I was glad to see her.
"Where is Granpa?" I asked.
"He is inside, having is coffee. He just got back from the young family down the road. They are just a wonderful little bunch. They have a couple of young kids, one your age and I think a boy that's about 6 or so." she smiled at me and led me inside of the house.
As we opened the bright red wooden door, I stepped into the house. Dark wood floors covered the inside, and to my left, lay the front living room area, a yellow printed love seat sat towards the window, and to its right, a magnificent, royal purple couch, embroidered with flowers. To my right was the kitchen, there, was Granpa. He was sipping his coffee lousily at the small wooden table, and he turned to see me, and his face brightened.
"Hey there kiddo!" He invited me in for a side hug, and I was happy to be here with Grams and Granpa. It was great to be somewhere, not in the loudest city ever, New York City. It was nice being out here in the northwest, quiet, and solitary. Trees surrounded our little farm area, and I loved it. This is where I needed to be after such a devastating time.
"I'll show you to your room." Grams grabbed my hand and held it tenderly. I followed her, round the front door, and up to the stairs. Each step took a creek underneath my feet. As we reached the top, we took a turn to the left, and a small room was at the end of the hall. When I walked in, the walls were a pure white, untouched. The bed was neatly made, and a soft, flower quilt covered the white sheets and linen that lay beneath. The floor was a lighter color now, not the dark, dark wood color which encaped the houser downstairs. I felt I could fit in to this room, and call it my own.
"Now, we know how much stuff you have in your car to bring up to your room, so we called the neighbor boy over to help you out. He sure is a cutie, Anna!" she laughed, light heartedly and walked her way down the stairs.
"Well, uh, thanks Gram!" I could hear her laugh again, and so did Granpa.
I sat down on my new bed, and ran my hand over the soft, pink and white flowered blanket once more, then started to walk my way down the stairs, just as Grams did, each step, creeking, which I know I would soon become accustomed to.
When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I heard chatter outside. I peeked my head out the half-open door, and saw a boy standing there, back turned, standing there talking with Granpa. He was slender, yet muscular. He was dark haired, and I could tell he was definitely a looker. He was possibly about 5'11", probably 6'0". When he started to turn around, I held my breath. He was gorgeous. Although you could tell he had been doing yard work or working on a car, he was still absolutely stunning. His features were chiseled, astonishing really. He could be a model. But he was a farm boy. I walked up to them, letting out my breath as I walked my way down the house steps to the grass.
"This here is Aaron. Aaron, meet Anna. She just came here to live with us. Our amazing grandaughter!" Granpa chuckled.
"It's nice to meet you, Anna." Aaron held out his hand to shake mine, and I grabbed it clumsily to shake it. He smiled.
"Great to meet you too, Aaron." I let go of his hand and blushed.
"So, you need help with your stuff, right?" He looked me right in the eyes, he was about a foot away from me, looking down on me, He was at least a head taller than I was, making him maybe over a little six foot. He had medium, green eyes, not too dark, not too light, just right.
"Yeah, I do. Thanks." I looked down to my pockets, shuffling out my car keys to pop the trunk and to unlock the backseat.
