Ray took a deep breath as she stepped off of the plane. She grinned. Soon. Soon she'd finally see the person who she met online and befriended. She'd finally meet Namjoon, her best internet friend and crush. Their relationship was confusing at the moment, but they'd figure it out soon. More importantly, Ray would finally be able to poke those dimples.
Going through passport control was incredibly tedious. Ray thought she was going to cry because of how slowly the line moved. God damn it, hurry up! she cursed mentally at the people checking the passports. When she finally got to the man who was supposed to check her documents, she hurriedly gave him what he asked for, tapping her foot impatiently. As if he wanted to annoy her even more, he moved at the speed of a sloth to stamp her passport. She bit her lip to not snap at the man. Ray didn't want to get in trouble with the security and cause Namjoon to wait longer. She knew he must feel like her: anxious and excited. How? When she turned her phone on after she got off of the plane, her phone restarted almost immediately from all of the messages overflooding her phone.
The man finally handed her the passport and she thanked him hurriedly. She groaned when she realized that she still had to get her baggage. The whole process was taking so long. She actually started tearing up because her bags were taking so long. Half of the bags were already picked up, so where were hers?!
Ray finally saw her bags and grabbed them quickly. She all but ran out the doors to where Namjoon would be waiting. She looked around. There were so many people, she didn't know how she was supposed to find Namjoon among them. Look for the sign, not his face, Ray reminded herself. If a fan spotted Namjoon in the airport, all hell would break loose. Therefore he had to disguise himself.
She then spotted it. A light blue sign with the word "Butterfly" written across it. The person holding it had a black sweater on with the hood covering his face. When she got closer, she realized he was also wearing a face mask. He was looking around for her. Ray grinned and ran up to him.
She let go of her bags as soon as she got close to him. The first thing she did was pull him into a tight hug. Namjoon froze at the sudden contact but immediately hugged back when he realized who it was.
"Oh my god. Oh my god. It's really you. I'm really here. Holy shit."
"Exactly how I feel. How was the flight?" Namjoon asked as he grabbed Ray's luggage. She tried to protest but he didn't give her a chance, so she continued to tell him about her flight.
"It was so long! The whole time I was freaking out about finally meeting you and I barely slept. I had to watch movies and stuff to pass the time. It was so boring!" Ray ranted. Namjoon laughed and led her to a taxi that was waiting for them. The girl told the driver her grandmother's address and they got into the car. As much as Ray and Namjoon wanted to talk, they felt uncomfortable talking about all they needed to talk about in a car with a stranger. Therefore, the ride to Ray's grandmother's was mostly silent, although they did constantly glance at each other.
When they finally arrived, Namjoon paid the driver and followed Ray to the door. She greeted her grandmother and promised to catch up the next day.
"Go with your boyfriend already! He's waiting," the old woman said. Ray tried to protest but when that failed, she just blushed and nodded. Ray and Namjoon were pushed out of the house and had the door slammed in their faces.
"Um..."
"Come on, let's go!" Namjoon grabbed her hand with a grin. Ray almost tripped over her own feet when he pulled her after him.
"Wait, where are we going?" she asked.
"I looked around this area a bit before you came. There's actually a really nice restaurant near here so I wanted to to take you there after the park. You can meet the others tomorrow, although not for long because if someone spots us, there will be a huge scandal..." Ray nodded, understanding what he meant. The life of an idol wasn't exactly easy. They couldn't be seen giving attention to one fan, no matter how they were related, unless of course they were family, which they weren't. Namjoon could be suspected of having a girlfriend if they were caught. Whether it was true or not, it could hurt his image and career.
"That sounds great," she assured him.
It didn't take long for them to reach the park. Ray didn't expect it to be decorated all over with beautiful lights and fake snowflakes. She looked around in wonder. There were families, couples, friends, and loners, but everyone seemed to be enjoying the warm atmosphere. Namjoon grabbed Ray's hand and laced his fingers with hers. She looked away, feeling her face heat up, but she accepted his hand.
"Shall we?" Namjoon asked.
"We shall."
