I opened my eyes to what appeared to be an ancient city. I looked around and realized I was floating. I looked down and saw that my shimmery blue tail was back. I felt strangely happy, realizing I was in the ocean.
"Sally. I've been waiting for you for a long time." A blonde woman with sharp cheekbones and a rainbow tail that seemingly glowed said in a calm, happy voice. "I'm Aquarious. I'm here to help you. You have finally reached the age that you may become a mermaid when you touch water and discover your magical powers."
"Is that why my eyes have been changing colours?" I asked curiously. I felt unusually comfortable with talking to this... mermaid.
"Why yes. Only the most powerful mermaids have eyes that change colour. With different emotions comes different iris colours. For example, right now your eyes are purple. You must be happy." She said with a smile.
"Yes! What is this place? It looks ancient!" I replied.
With a laugh Aquarious smiled as she said, "This is Atlantis."
"You don't mean the mythical city of Atlantis, do you??? It can't be possible! Atlantis is like as old as the last ice age!" I said excited.
"What other Atlantis would there be?" She winked at me.
"Wow." Was all I could say. I was just so excited I felt like I might burst. "So is there others?"
"If you mean other merfolk, yes there are. They live throughout all of the oceans in the world. You'll even discover the odd one living in huge lakes and rivers."
"That's so amazing!"
"You must promise not to tell anybody. Not even your parents. I know it will be hard but I will help you. I can teach you how to control your powers today at dusk. I believe your mom is calling you." She smiled waving at me.
I was quite confused when I heard my mom's voice calling me. It seemed so echoey but every time she said "Sally, Sally. We're home." It seemed to get louder.
I know nobody is reading my story and nobody probably will, but I'd like to say that I enjoy writing stories. I find it fun. I hope somebody will stumble across my account and maybe enjoy my book. 😜😝😜
