Justin's POV
Keagan walked out the door and I just stood there confused. What just happened? I heard someone clear their throat and I turned around to see Ryan and Chaz. "What was that?" I asked confused. Chaz groaned and shook his head as he walked passed me out the door.
Even more confused, I looked over at Ryan. He looked at me disappointed. "What? Dude I didn't even do anything! I don't even know the chick!" I said, the frustration seeping out my mouth. "Man that's the thing!" Ryan yelled. "What?"
"You don't remember her, that's what's wrong! You lied to her and broke your promise! You pushed her away! Why?" I am so confused right now. Nothing makes any sense.
"Ry, I've never met the girl. She is like just some fan that is crazy for me that's all. She got you and Chaz to think that she actually knows me and everything. But I don't know her." I said desperately for him to believe me.
He rolled his eyes and shook his head in disappointment. He opened his mouth to say something but just closed it and shook his head again. He turned around and walked down the stairs. I quickly followed him down to his room. I watched as he walked over to his desk and looked through the papers in the drawers.
After standing there watching him for a couple of minutes, he turned around and handed me the papers. I looked down at them and realized they were pictures. I looked at the first one. It was me, Chaz, Ryan, and... that girl?
We were all at the ice rink in our skates. What? I looked up at Ryan confused. He sighed and came and sat by me on his bed. I looked at the next picture. It was me, Chaz, Ryan, and that girl Keagan again. But this time we were all at a party.
I kept looking at the photos. They were all of the four of us doing things. At the mall, skate park, playing videogames. I then looked at the last one. It was me and Keagan. The picture was taken a while ago because I still had my swooshed hair. We were hugging. In the background the house looked empty. Then I realized it was my old house here in Stratford.
I looked over at Ryan. "It was always the four of us. We did everything together. You remember the day you found out Scooter wanted to fly you to the U.S?" I nodded my head. "You told Keagan first. You ran to her house and you both came and told me and Chaz. Together. You guys were best friends. Before you left you promised her you would never forget her. So why did you?"
The memories started flooding back. All the jokes and laughs, all the times we got in trouble for doing stupid stuff. All the memories of hanging out and playing videogames. The memory of when I left. I was so sad to leave her. She was my everything. I remembered why I stopped talking to her.
"I didn't mean to stop talking to her. Everything just got so hectic. I was always busy, constantly doing things. I couldn't find the time." I felt so guilty. I never broke my promises.
"You didn't forget me or Chaz. You still talked to us." I sighed. "I know. I got a new phone. I had someone put all my stuff in it. I guess they forgot Keagan's contact. Then I just guess, I forgot." I shrugged my shoulders and Ryan smiled. "You remember her?" he said excitedly. I nodded.
Yeah I remember my best friend. I remember the girl that knew me better than I did. I remember the girl I thought I couldn't live without. I remember the girl I had always been crazy in love with. I remember the girl I stupidly forgot.
I stood up quickly. "I have to go apologize." I said before running out of his house. I ran across the street to Keagan's house. I knocked on the door. Rocking back and forth on my feet, I impatiently waited for someone to open the door.
Finally after what seemed to be forever, Chaz opened the door. "What do you want?" He hissed at me. Woah didn't see that coming. "I need to talk to Keagan." He gave mea sarcastic laugh. "No way. I just got her to stop crying. You should know that she never cries, oh wait."
"Damn Chaz just let me talk to her!" I said impatiently. "No Justin. You-" he started before he was cut off. "Chaz who's at the door?" I pushed the door open and saw Keagan standing there. Her hair was in a messy bun on the top of her head. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying. I can't believe I did this to her.
She sniffled and stood there as she saw me. "Oh." She said quietly. I could see tears start to line her eyes and her lip started to quiver. "Keagan can we talk?" I asked her desperately. She looked over at Chaz and then back to me before hesitantly nodding.
She turned around and I followed her up to her room. There were pictures of me, her, Chaz, and Ryan from before I left. And then more of just them three that looked a little more recent. Then I saw a poster. It was me from when Never Say Never was in theaters. And next to it there was one from my Believe album.
I smiled and then turned to see her sitting crossed legged on her bed looking down at her lap.
"I remember."
