It is now lunch time, I'm sitting at the back of the lunch room with Alan and Matty. They're talking about about something I don't care enough about to listen.
I look over at Vic as I suddenly ask "what do you think about gay people?" Oh wow, smooth, Kellin. Real smooth.
"Uhh... Well, Alan is gay and he's cool, so I guess I think they're cool. Why do you ask?" Matty looks so confused.
"Oh - umm... No reason." I quickly blurt out.
Alan looks at me with a puzzled expression, "do you have I problem with that?" He is so nervous it physically pains me.
"Of course not!" I almost yell. Should I tell them I'm gay? I guess it wouldn't hurt, not like they're going to tell everyone, "I'm gay, too."
"I knew it!" Matty calls and Alan hands him some money.
"You guys bet on it!" Are they serious?
"Yeah, we did. I'm sorry, Kellin." Alan apologises. He does that a lot. The amount of times he's said 'sorry' today is probably more than I have in my life. That's either really bad of me, or way too nice of Alan.
"No, its fine." I shrug it off.
I see Alan look over in the direction of the table where Tony, Vic, Mike, Jaime, and Austin sit. I can tell that he's intensely looking at one of them, I'm just not sure which one.
"Who are you looking at?" I ask him, genuinely taking interest.
Alan looks back at me "oh, no -"
"Austin." Matty blurts out before Alan can make up some excuse as to why he was looking over there.
"Matty!" Alan slams his hands on the table, shaking it.
Matty just giggles, "oh, come on! He was probably going to find out within the next few days anyway."
Alan looked down, "yeah, but it makes me look pathetic. Not just liking a straight guy, but also my bully."
"It doesn't make you look pathetic! Right Kellin?" Matty catches me off guard.
"No, I've been in the same situation," and if I continue to see Vic, that might not just be past tense.
Matty smiles, "see, you're not pathetic!"
"Whatever," Alan brushes it off.
We just finish eating as the bell rings. We all have fourth period together so we go as a group.
Of course, non other then Austin and Vic approach us. "Hey look, its the fags!" Vic calls, putting Matty in a head lock, Austin doing the same to Alan. I can tell Alan doesn't mind all that much.
I walk over to go get Matty out of Vic's grip since Austin is way too intimidating to take on my own. To my surprise Vic let go of Matty and punched my right in the face.
"That was uncalled for!" I really need to learn how to shut up. At my old schools, I would just let them beat me, not even a comment, but here, I can't keep my mouth shut. I really don't know why.
"Hey, what did I tell you about talking back earlier!" Austin let's go of Alan.
"You said talking back to you, not him!" Oh I really need to shut up.
I shut my eyes, ready for him to punch me, but it never happens. I open my eyes once again, Matty and Alan are long gone by now, Vic and Austin are just standing there.
"I guess you're right," what? I'm so confused. What's going on here? This isn't supposed to be happening! I should be on the ground, and they should be punching me.
