~Solstice’s POV~
Ugh, how nearve wreaking! How dare she say something like that! And to me especially. After I slammed the door, I made my way down the hall and to the living room where everyone else was. Probably not the best idea since I was fuming with anger. As I stomped into the living room, all eyes were on me.
“Everything ok? They up yet?” wondered Patch.
“No, obviously not!” I snapped at the boy. He was playing some board game with Gazzy and Angel while Chai and Total watched. Iggy was staring over in my direction from his spot on the couch. Fang and Max were talking until I walked in and were now staring at me with confused stares. I noticed Hail walking over to me.
“What’s wrong?” he asked. I sighed and decided not to say anything about what Cinder said. Instead of replying, I turned and walked to go sit on the couch next to Iggy and began to tune everything out when, out of no where, Nudge runs into the room with a perky look on her face.
“They’re up everyone!” she chirped. I then noticed Cinder and Specter walking in from behind her.
“Hey, you two ok?” asked Max. I avoided all eye contact with Cinder.
“Yeah, sorry if we worried any of you. I guess it’s time we tell our story huh?” said Cinder.
“That would be helpful considering we let complete strangers into our home,” chuckled Max. I look away and stared at the wall when I felt someone standing in front of me.
“You know, I was wondering. Why are you wearing dark sunglasses inside?” asked Nudge. I looked up at her and before I realized it, she did something unexpected. She reached down and took off my special glasses, “There, now you can see better.” I heard, at the last second, Cinder gasp and tell her ‘no,’ but it was too late. The lights in the room poured into my sight and the room echoed with my screams. The pain, it felt like my eyes were melting in their sockets.
“Solstice!” yelled Hail. Im not sure what happened, except I felt him kneeling next to me as he put my glasses back on. I opened my eyes again and through the tears, I saw all eyes on me again. Without a word, I stomped over to the front door, slammed it open, and flew out into the rain. Once again, I’m forced back into my dark world.
~Cinder’s POV~
I felt even more bad about what I said to Solstice. I sighed and walked over to sit on the couch next to Chai. Everyone gathered around, curious to hear me explain what the hell just happened. Hail gave me a look, asking if we should go after her. I shook my head no. She wont go far and it’s probably better that she lets off some steam.
“Did I do something wrong?” asked Nudge. She looked guilty. I cant really blame her, she didn’t know, though she should learn not to get into people’s space.
“No, no you didn’t. Um, Solstice has very sensative eyes so any kind of light hurts her. Actually, she’s blind when its bright, but when it’s pitch dark, she has a much better eye sight then all of us combined,” I explained. Then I heard Iggy snort.
“Yeah, but she’s not actually blind,” he comented.
“True, but she still suffers. A few years ago, the Lab Coats came and . . .”
“Lab Coats? You mean the White Coats?” Wondered Gazzy.
“Lab Coats, White Coats, whatever. They are all an abomination to us. Well, they came and took her away for experimentation. When they brought her back, her eyes were covered in bandages. It didn’t take us long to figure out that light hurts her.” I shuddered at the memory. I looked at the Flock members and they seemed to shudder just thinking about the horrible things that happened at the School.
