Chapter Eight: New Day

Three months later...

Loud music blared out the speakers as April Danvers danced around her room. She cheerfully swayed her hips as she got ready for work. She scraped her red hair into a bobble and looked into the mirror.

The girl who looked back at her in the mirror was smiling something that felt natural to April. She felt strange when she looked in the mirror because she felt that she was missing a part of herself.

Three months ago she wandered onto a road not knowing anything about her past. She still didn't remember her past to this day but she never felt the need to explore it.

She grabbed her bag and a slice toast from her roommate Violet. "Hey, That's not fair... I deserve payment.." Violet said turning to April who stood their toast hanging from her mouth.

April smiled taking a bite of the toast and taking the remaining slice in her hand. After she finished chewing she kissed Violet on the lips.

Violet had helped her through the rough few months as April really didn't know what to do. They grew 'close'.

April then dashed out the door to her job. She was offered it a few weeks after she forgot everything. It was at Palmer Technologies as an assistant to Felicity Smoak. It had been going pretty well and April seemed to get the hang of it even though she felt that the job was too redundant and she hated doing the same thing every day. 

 April had to walk to the Palmer Technologies building since the railway seemed to be cut off. She scowled knowing she was going to be late. She took a steady pace and then slowly came to a stop as she noticed the very reason the railway had been shut off. The road that was above it had caved in. April rushed over and heard a woman crying out for help. 

The woman was trapped in a red car and no one was doing anything to protect her. April dropped her bag and toast and rushed to help the woman. Adrenaline fueled her. She clambered over the rubble until she reached the car. She tugged at the door and it wouldn't budge. April looked around and found a pipe. She told the woman to cover her face and April bashed the window open.

April dragged the woman out and sent her up to safety. She looked around and saw petrol spilling out the car. There were several burning pieces of metal and she didn't think she would make it out alive. Then everything was turned to a blur. 

When she realised what was happening she was on the ground safe. She looked up and saw a guy in a flash costume. "Oh my god, You're the flash!" She said fangirling slightly.

"Not exactly, You're a hero," He said looking at her.

"Not exactly," She said mirroring him. "I should let you go Mister Flash" She added. Before she knew it he was gone. A wide smile dawned her face.

She realised then that the Flash that saved her was a newcomer since the flash of Central City didn't stray from his city that often.

April thought about the ordeal as she entered Palmer Technologies. She bumped into someone as she approached the elevator. It was Oliver Queen. She was starstruck. She had heard about the millionaire who was running for Mayor. Well, former Millionaire.

"Oh my god, You're Oliver Queen, Sorry Mister Queen, First day on the job I'm a mess," April said laughing.

"Ruby?" He said and then realised what he had said.

"Who?" April said. "Oh do I remind you of someone, My names, not Ruby, I'm April, April Winters"

Oliver sighed "Yeah, I forgot, Anyway good luck April," He said.

Then he left. April frowned and stepped into the elevator accompanied by a woman with white hair. The woman looked at her. "I suppose you took the cheaters way out," She said.

April frowned. "Excuse me?"

"It's funny your so innocent now, but I need you to remember, Here," The stranger said handing April an invitation as they reached a floor.

April read the piece of paper and saw it was an invitation to the Smoak pre-wedding party. April frowned looking up to see the woman gone. Wondering how her life had gotten so weird recently.
