Chapter Three: Run

Ruby looked at Richard her arm sliding down her side ready to take a throwing knife out her pocket. "What are you doing here?" She asked.

Richard walked towards her but Ruby instinctively stepped back taking Megan with her. Wally was protective and kept an eye on Richard's every movement. "Well, I've been watching for a while..." He said.

"I noticed you have your dad back.." Richard commented touching a family picture that sat on a unit next to him. It had Ruby, Oliver and Megan.

"He has been back for a while..." Ruby whispered.

"Ruby, Who are you talking-" Oliver began as he entered the room and then layed eyes on Richard.

"Run, Before I kill you" Oliver threatened.

"Calm down, I'm not here for trouble, Just a flying visit" He said opening the door and left. Ruby crouched down and hugged Megan tightly.

"Don't trust that man ever! You here me!?" Ruby shouted at her daughter. The girl looked at her mother's face which housed worry and anger.

"I won't" Megan said in her high pitched young voice.

"Promise me!?" Ruby begged.

"I promise" Megan replied.

Roy groggily walked down the halls of the mental hospital. The beds werent that comfy and it was safe to say his first night wasnt a good one. He entered the room he was in yesterday that except this time it featured a few policemen talking to staff. He walked into the room and saw the girl from yesterday.

"Before you ask, Someone died" The girl said sniffling as if she had just been crying. He sat down oppisite her. She looked at him and her eyes were wet and cheeks were red.

"Were you close to them?" He asked.

She clenched her hands slightly as if the question angered her. "I was, She was my only for friend this stupid place and some psycho murdered her" Her voice showed anger but every insult showed hurt in her eyes.

Roy could see she was getting herself stressed over it. He put his hand on hers as if trying to relax her. She froze at the sudden human interaction. She looked down at his hand and could cry again. No one had shown her an ounce of care since she arrived here. "They will find who did this, Youre friend wont go without some justice being done" He said.

She smiled softly "Thank you." 

She looked over at a poster on a wall "Are you going to the dance?" She asked.

Roy frowned and looked at the poster "What dance?"

She giggled "It's some party they throw for us, Staff donate tuxes and dressess and it's the only night we get to feel normal, It's on Friday and I need a date" She said.

Roy smiled "But I don't know you're name yet" He said.

She wiggled her brows in fun "I will tell you if you turn up" She said smiling. 

"Fine I will be you're date"

Night plagued the Queen Mansion. Ruby stood in the large hall and watched her brother type away on a keyboard while Wally stood on a treadmill. She wore her blue costume and her bow over her shoulder. She crouched to Megan's height who was confused.

"Sweetie, We are going far away" Ruby told her.

Megan frowned "Why? I like our home" She said.

Wally looked at Ruby nervously and she didn't return his gaze. "It's not safe, You and I need to go somewhere safe" Ruby tried to explain to her confused daughter.

"Uncle Max and Wally aren't coming? Granddad isn't coming!?" Megan said her voice sounding panicky.

"No they aren't I'm sorry Smokey, But once we are there we will be safe from that man and anyone who wants to hurt you" Ruby said her voice ached as she spoke.

"No! I don't want to leave!" Megan begged.

"It's time" Max said. Wally began to run at incredible speed on the treadmill. The energy followed through the wires and into a large metal oval which the inside of turned blue. 

Ruby took her daughters hand "Time to go Megan" She said walking towards it. 

Megan yanked herself away "No!" She screamed. Ruby snapped in her direction and before she could pull her daughter to safety she was in the arms of someone else.

Richard held her "She doesn't want to go Ruby" He said. Ruby stepped forward "LET HER GO RICHARD!" She screamed. Wally continued running and Max yelled something about there not being long left until the portal closed.

Richard wore his Nightwing costume and raised a gun from his side. "Bye, Ruby, I'm taking my daughter back" He said. 

Ruby didn't really notice what happened next. There was a bang and then ringing in her ears. Quickly a flash of red was in front of her and tackled her through the portal. She landed with a smack on the cold grey floor. 

She sat up and looked at the flickering portal she threw herself at it to get Megan but it closed. She burst into tears "No! No! No! Megan! He has my baby girl!" She said clawing at the floor in a desperate effort to get her back. 

"Ruby?" A familiar voice called. She turned her head and saw her father standing there but younger. "Oliver?" She questioned. Then a groan was beside her. 

She turned and saw Wally. He was the blur. She then saw red on his white shirt. She thought the gun had missed her but it hadn't. The bullet had hit Wally.

Sorry for not updating i've been really busy with school but hopefully during the enxt couple of weeks there will be a steady flow of updates.
