I woke to a nude body pressed against my own and a pounding headache that I was sure would last the majority of my day. I flipped on my side and blearily blinked my eyes open, zeroing in on the alarm clock on my nightstand table.
10:48 AM.
"Fuck." I grumbled to myself and pressed the palm of my hands to my tired eyes, rubbing at them and praying for the jackhammers in my head to go away.
There was loud chatter coming from outside my bedroom door, so I immediately knew that Normani and Dinah were up for the morning. I kicked the covers from my body and snuck over to my dresser, pulling out a pair of black-laced panties, slipping them on and then throwing an over-sized Bob Marley shirt over my head, not bothering to put on any pants. It was a normal occurrence for my roommates and I to just walk around half-naked. This time was no different.
I threw the covers over Cassidy's naked body and then slipped out of the room, making my way toward the kitchen, my roommates' chatter becoming louder with each step that I took.
"Lauser! It's about time you woke up, girl!" Dinah hollered, waving with a spatula in her hand.
I sent her a playful glare from my position on our kitchen stool, mumbling a small 'thanks' to Normani when she placed a cup of orange juice in front of her.
"It's not like you deserve it. Considering you totally ditched DJ and I last night." She raised her thick brows, crossing her arms over her chest in a defensive manner.
I sighed and dropped my cup of juice on the counter once I had finished taking a sip from it. "I'm sorry. I just-"
"Girl! Don't apologise! Mani and I are glad you finally got laid. Your ass has been so uptight these last couple of months. It's about time, lady!" Dinah chirped, sloppily flipping a pancake with a smile on her face.
"Dinah Jane! We were supposed to yell at her for ditching us first, and then congratulate her for finally getting laid." Normani huffed, but the twinkle of mirth in her eyes let me know that she wasn't actually being serious about lecturing me.
"Will you two please keep your voices down? She's still here." I whispered, running a quick hand through my hair.
"Oh, crap! She still hasn't done the walk of shame?" My Polynesian roommate began giggling and dropped her terribly made pancake onto a stacked plate with other terribly made pancakes.
"She doesn't have to do the walk of shame. That's...That's such an asshole move." I glanced between Normani and Dinah and found them staring at me with furrowed brows. "What? It's true!"
I knew what it was like to leave a 'one night stand' and make the walk of shame. It was an awful feeling that I had to experience almost every Friday night. I wasn't about to let some girl go through the same thing. If she was going to leave my apartment, it was going to be with dignity and respect.
Just as my roommates were going to open their mouths and rebuttal my statement, a knock on the door sounded, instantly gaining our attention.
"Not it!" I shouted, quickly forgetting that I had a sleeping girl to worry about.
"Not it!" Normani lifted a single finger up, a wide grin on her face.
Dinah huffed and waved her spatula in the air, some batter falling onto our kitchen floor. "I can't get it this time, y'all. I'm making breakfast."
Normani grabbed the spatula from her and smirked to herself, "How about you let the real chef make us breakfast and you get the door?"
I silently thanked the gods that my dark-skinned roommate would be taking over the food making. Her cooking skills were heavenly and Dinah's skills...weren't.
