Last night had been, as Taylor would say, magical, since she knew she could trust Ed and have possibly found "the one", yet that great night wasn't followed by a pleasant morning.

At about 4:00 a.m. that same night, a loud beep had awaken Taylor and her daughter. The power had gone out. It wasn't even storming and it couldn't be from heat since it was early December, and the weather was even worse than November's.

But Taylor ignored that completely, only focusing on her five year old daughter whom was crying from the pitch black awakening, and grabbed a flashlight that was burried in her bedside counter, then flicked it on. She hopped out of the beige sheets of her massive bed and nearly ran to Alison's room, handing her the flahlight.

"Shh... It's okay," Taylor said, wiping away a single tear of fear that ran down Alison's cheek. Alison sniffled, then asked in a cracky voice as if she was about to cry again, "What if it never turns back on?" Taylor giggled at Alison's approach to the situation, "Don't worry sweetie, I promise it will."

And with that, Taylor kissed Alison on the head, tucked her into bed, propped the flashlight on her dresser, and then left the room, slightly cracking the door so she could hear Alison if she needed something. It was hard for Taylor to find her way back to her room, he had to feel her way through the hallway even though her room was right across Alison's.

When she finally plopped back down into her bed, Taylor put her phone on and checked her surroundings. Nothing new, well, besides the fact that everything was in darkness. She tucked herself back into the covers and rolled around a few times before finally going back to sleep.

"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Wake up! Wake up!" Alison cried nearly in Taylor's ear, instantly waking her up. She rubbed her eyes before groggily asking ,"What is it Ali?" Alison pointed to Taylor's window and looked out of it with amazement.

Snow. So much snow. It was everywhere! The ground, the trees, the plants, even snowflakes were sprinkled around the window. Little icicles were hanging from the window, too. It looked like a complete wonderland, and the snow was thick too.

At first Taylor was amazed, but then she was confused. Why was there no alert? And if there was, why didn't she hear it? But those questions were soon pushed away as Alison grabbed her arm and tugged her down the stairs, running to the door, but Taylor stopping her.

"Oh no, you're not going out there in that," Taylor said, looking at her thin long-sleeve long-pants cat pajamas. Alison frowned and said in a pouty voice, "Why not?"

Taylor tapped her chin as if to be thinking hard, even though the answer was already with her, "Because... you'll freeze your toes off!" She tickled Alison's little toes and she giggled, then Taylor sent her to the table to have breakfast.

The power was out, so there was nothing really to eat. Taylor just gabbed a few pieces of bread then spread jam on them, tossing the on a plate for Alison and sending it to her placemat. "I'll set out what you'll wear today, come to your room when you finish and I'll help you," Taylor said, leaving Alison alone to go to her room to, as she said, pick on the many layers of clothes that she would bundle up in.

It was shocking to Alison after she took a good look at her outfit today. The outfit started pretty normal, a tunic and leggings, but then it became very strange in her opinion. Over that, she would wear a thick sweater and jeans, then over that, sweatpants and a big, puffy coat. There were also thing for her to assemble with her three layers: a scarf, hat, mittens, two pairs of socks (to wear over each other) and snow boots.

She called to her mom, who came and helped her immediately, and she began bundling up her. Taylor herself bundled, too, wearing something nearly what Alison was wearing. A regular top; over that a sweater and pair of jeans, followed by a puffy jacket with sweatpants, assembled with a scarf, hat, mittens, two pairs of thick socks, and snow boots.
