As spring rolled around the corner, everything seemed to look up for the citizens of Nashville. The sun was shining more often, the weather was getting warmer, and plant buds were placed anywhere they desired.
But nothing was looking up for Taylor. No, her life isn't getting worse, it's just that there has seemed to be a lag in her life. Everything was predictable, Ed took her out, Jackson wanted her back, all that crap. Her life just seemed boring.
It was a good thing that something else happened that first week of March, a change from what she usually had planned. Her mother and father had both announced that they were coming to town to see the couple, but as Taylor hung up from the phone that day, she knew what the couple had meant.
They meant her and, shocker, Jackson.
The problem was that she hadn't told them that Jackson divorced, got remarried, and had another child, plus Taylor was in a relationship herself. Why hadn't she told her parents? She knew it was stupid and illogical that she didn't tell her own parents, the people she always told everything to, that something like this had happened. It was a big deal, and they deserved to know, so Taylor would tell them when they came.
But another half of Taylor was debating with her plan. She was certain that she was going to tell them what had been happening in the past 3 to 4 years, but Taylor knew there had to be a reason she didn't tell them as soon as it happened; then she remembered why.
"I'm happy for you, Taylor, really," her dad had told her after she told the news of her engagement with Jackson. Taylor beamed at her father's reaction, knowing that he previously had never liked Jackson.
"Thanks dad," she replied, humming to one of her old songs as she fiddled with the beautiful engagement ring that was placed perfectly on her finger.
"Just, one thing," Taylor's dad said, earning Taylor's attention.
"Um, just, please don't screw this relationship up," Taylor gave a confused look at her father after he said that.
"What do you mean, screw up?" Taylor said, letting her confusion out. Her father rested his hand on his forehead and sighed, then looked up at Taylor again.
"You know what I mean. You're together for a few months then it's over," Taylor's dad said, her reaction being smiling and going back to fiddling with her ring.
"Don't worry dad," Taylor replied, looking hopefully at him, "I know he's the one."
He sighed again, looking down at the floor and tapping his foot, then looked up as if he made up his mind.
"If he isn't, then I don't want you to come crying to me. You are a grown woman and if this happens, well, I'm not so sure I'll let you marry another guy," he said with satisfaction, earning a sarcastic laugh from his daughter.
"As you said, I'm a grown woman, I can marry as many guys as I want without you knowing," Taylor joked, getting replied with a stern glance from her father.
"You're right. But, if this happens, I just don't want to know about it. I'd hate to see my daughter hurt again," he replied, Taylor standing up and giving her dad a hug.
"Don't worry," she mumbled, her head hanging over his shoulder, "It won't happen."
Taylor sighed at that memory. But it did happen, she thought, staring into space as she thought about her past a bit more before making up her mind.
She was going to tell them, whether they liked it or not.

"Doesn't sound too bad to me," Ed said after Taylor told him her plan. She was going to go into the restaurant where she was meeting her parents and then greet them. Then Ed would come in and walk over to them, followed by Taylor telling what had happened the past few years.
"Even considering I'm 37, this whole thing could make or break my entire relationship with you. They still have power over me," Taylor said, shrugging as Ed chuckled.
Taylor was at Ed's house while she waited for him to get ready to go to where she was meeting her parents. She originally had told him that this was a regular date, but she came to his house early to tell him what was really going on. It was a good thing that Ed didn't seem to care, any other boy would be half out the door by now.
Ed finished getting ready about five minutes later after finishing combing his shaggy auburn hair. He set the black comb down in satisfaction; Taylor getting up and walking over to him, then resting her chin on his left shoulder.
"You look great," she mumbled. Ed turned his head to look over at Taylor, a smile growing onto his face as he leaned in a gave her a quick kiss before quickly getting up.
"I think we need to go," Ed said, checking his watch. Taylor nodded, then grabbed her purse.
"We do. My parents told me to meet them at 6, and it's 5," Taylor said, checking her own watch as she began to head out the door with Ed, their hands intertwined.
"Bye kids!" Ed yelled to his children and Alison, whom was staying with them while the two adults were gone. They all ran up to the entrance of the house, giving their parents hugs, then quickly sprinting back up the stairs.
Ed led Taylor to his car, where both hopped in, and as usual, began talking instantly. About halfway trough the drive, Taylor stopped their conversation by gasping in amazement.
"I love this song!" she yelled like a child after carefully examining the song that the car's radio was playing. Instantly, Taylor began singing along to the lyrics, noticeably out of tune, making Ed laugh.
"You're Taylor Swift, aren't you supposed to be singing in tune?" Ed noted sarcastically, earning a quick scowl from Taylor, whom was still singing, but then she turned back to face the road.
Ed stayed quiet while Taylor enjoyed her little concert, then brought up the next topic for their conversation when Taylor sighed as the song changed.
"What if they don't like me?" Ed had worriedly questioned, glancing over at Taylor once they stopped at a traffic light. Taylor chuckled in amusement, knowing that the question he asked had a quite clear answer.
"Of course they will!" Taylor shouted happily as the car took off again. Ed quickly looked back at her before replying.
"No, I mean what if they don't? What will I do?" Ed replied, still left questionable. Taylor sighed, not knowing how to reply. Her parents usually have liked her boyfriends, so she thought he was in a good spot. Yet, she knew her parents didn't want her in a relationship, so she was clueless on how to answer.
"I don't know," was the only words that came out of her mouth though, leaving the rest of her thoughts inside her head. The two sighed in unison, then were quiet the rest of the ride, which was about two minutes before they pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant they were meeting her parents.
Ed stopped the car, then hopped out along with Taylor, holding hands across the parking lot, but then releasing when they got to the entrance of the restaurant.
"Remember the plan," Taylor said, Ed nodding. Taylor gave Ed a pack on the cheek then entered the restaurant with pride.
"Hello, how many in your party?" The hostess asked the second Taylor stepped through the double doors.
"Actually my part is here..." Taylor said, searching for her parents in the crowded restaurant. Once she found them, she pointed to them.
"Over there," she finished, the hostess hoisting herself out of the seat she was sitting on then leading her there. Taylor approached their booth to see 4 glasses of water and 4 menus placed around the table, then her parents getting up.
"Oh Taylor! I've missed you so much!" her mother squealed, engulfing her in a hug.
"Great to see you, Tay," her dad said after her mother released Taylor, then engulfed her in a hug himself.
The three were quiet for a second, until her mom broken the ice.
"Where's Jack?" she said, looking around for the guy who was still married to Taylor, according to her parents. Taylor sighed, clueless on what to say, but then Ed walked in.
He walked up to Taylor, confused emotions coming from her parents. Taylor sighed again, but this time she knew what to say.
"Mom, dad, I'd like you to meet Ed, my boyfriend."
