"I was so worried! What happened?" She waited for an answer, but I didn't have any. I just turned to Eric and hope that he had the answers.

"It's late and Luna needs some rest, I'll sort this out. That is all he says and I walk into the house. Maybe sleep will help and I can function after resting.

My eyes shot open, and my shirt clings to my back. I'm sweating and breathing heavy but I didn't have a nightmare. I didn't have a dream at all. The clock on my bedside table display three forty am. I'd only three hours of sleep. I stand up to go to the kitchen when I notice my door is ajar, and I hear whispering.

" I don't know why she did that, but it doesn't matter. You follow the new plan and everything will still workout." It's a female, and it's not Lenny's voice. So I stay quiet making sure I hear the right words.

" Eric! Are you listening? You have no choice, this is for the sake of our race!" An angry and very worked up voice is what I hear next and I assume Eric knows them. But what are they doing here? What does that person mean by race? They must be related.

"Nadine, I don't care if everyone dies. Luna is staying with me and don't you dare lay a finger on her!" Eric says my name and I become more attentive.

"How can you be so selfish! My son has made a big mistake loving your mother and now that he's gone it is up to both you and Brandon to keep the werengels alive!" It's that female again, I assume she's an older lady hearing her voice for the second time. I am lost as to what they are discussing but I'll keep eavesdropping.

"Brandon, no matter what happens you're taking Luna it'll be easier with Eric here. Besides, we only have two days left. So move fast. The moon will be ready." Brandon... The name is so familiar even if I don't know anyone with that name. As I put more thought to it, the minty scent envelops me once again. They are connected somehow, I feel it.

After everything I hear Eric could not be trusted anymore. He knows about what happened to me. He knows who did that to me. I rush back to my bed as soon as a I see a shadow. I pull up the covers and try to listen as much as I can. I hear footsteps inching towards me.

"I won't let them take you, never. As long as I live, you'll be safe." Eric whispers and he strokes my hair. A chill runs through my spine making my heart beat faster. Eventually, he leaves my room and I breathe out in relief. Two days, my birthday is in two days.

The sun's rays warm up my face and I slowly open my eyes. I look at the clock to check the time, three forty seven, at least I got some sleep. I need to get ready so I head to the bathroom and change into new clothes. When I go downstairs to eat, I find Amy and Eric talking.

"Luna! I heard what happened and I got worried, fortunately Eric was in town and he was able to help you are you okay?" Amy runs up to me and hugs me. I look at Eric but he looks away. He's hiding so many things.

"Amy, don't worry I'm fine I'm sure Eric told you everything?" I question Amy hoping to find answers.

"Oh yeah, he said you were kidnapped but they lost interest and left you at a cabin. They called him because they must have seen his missed calls and they were already gone when he came. He also said you were in shock and you don't remember anything is that true? You don't remember how they looked?" Amy holds my hand and I nod. It's true, I don't remember anything and every time I try to it comes to a dead end.

"Oh, I'm sorry you must be in shock and your brain is blocking your memory because it was traumatizing event. I'm always here for you." Her voice is filled with pity, and it makes me uncomfortable. I don't need her pity. I need her help. I need answers.
