Two Times a Person

*Ali's P.O.V*

After volleyball practice, I left school to go home. I couldn't go to Dani's house because it was late and I had to go do homework too. Good thing practice ended earlier than expected.

I unlocked the door to my house and heard whispers from the living room. I stopped for a brief second to try to make out what they were saying.

"..yeah, it's sad. Rick basically completed him. Too bad he had to leave so early, may he rest in peace," said a familiar voice I had just heard earlier.

Aunt Kari!

I walked towards the living room and smiled, acting like I hadn't heard anything.

"Hi!" I spoke.

"Hey, you're so early," My mom said surprised.

"Yeah, practice was cut due to the weather."

She oh'd me. 

I looked towards Aunt Kari and greeted her, "Hello again, Aunt Kari."

She mouthed a hello and a happy smile.

"I'll be upstairs doing my homework if you need anything," I advised and went up the stairs, only to stop at the third step up.

"I feel so awful, how he lost a brother like that."

A brother? What?

I went up the stairs quietly to text Dani. I didn't know Lucas had a brother?

As I started texting Dani, I got a message from Jackson:

Hey pumpkin, I'll be back today, I miss you! <3

I texted him back:

That's awesome, lemon pie! I'll text the guys about it. xoxo

*Dani's P.O.V*

There are things that aren't meant to be out in the open and things people should actually know. For example: knowing that your cousin had a brother. 

"How in the fucking world did you not know Lucas had a brother though?" I asked Ali, who was fixing her laces on her Taylor Swift Keds.

"I told you, my mom isn't as close with her step-brother."

"It still doesn't explain things though. Hanestown isn't a bad place to be in, why move down here?"

"Money problems? I don't know." She used her fingers like needles to get the laces through the shoe holes.

"Nothing makes sense," I proclaimed.

"Lucas' brother was probably someone we could've--" I stopped her and said, "Wait Ali, did we ever tell you that Lucas was a werewolf?"

"No... You didn't, who told you? Why didn't you tell me?"

"I thought Jackson told you?"

"No he didn't! If Lucas was- is a werewolf, why am I not?"

"Your mom's adopted-brother might have been. Ali, I think I just solved half the puzzle piece!" I excitedly said. 

I continued, " Your adopted-uncle, or whatever you want to call him, his parents were killed. Probably by Jackson's father's pack and then he was adopted by your grandparents. The wolf blood is in him, not you because your mom is in no way connected to him by genes. Your mom probably knows more than what you think."

"I don't think so." She sat straight up.

"If my theory is correct, which it probably is, you should ask her!"

"I don't want to sound dramatic or anything but, I don't want to interrogate my mother!"

"I'll ask for you then!" 

All of a sudden Ali's door opened and her mom's head popped up.

"Hey Daniel, sweety, Ali and I are going out tonight and it's time for her to get ready. I think it's time for you to go too, it's getting pretty late," she said.

Ali and I exchanged confused faces.

"Uh, yeah sure. Bye Ali." I mouthed her a "text me" and I was guided to the front door, in which I opened and I felt a slight breeze touch my cheeks.

*Jackson's P.O.V*

Sitting on the porch reading Dani's note from his mom, has made me tired as hell. Today I will confess to the thing I had done during the summer. I'll need the energy if they were going to bash me with a shovel or hold me at gunpoint. I heard steps coming down the streets. I got up and stood at the steps. I'm hoping it's Dani, he's the first one I want to tell. I think he's more cooperative than the others. The steps got closer and the person emerged from the bushes covering the entrance. 

Anyways, the person was Lucas. 

"What do you want?" I asked.

He looked back, another person coming behind him. A man with a huge built body, with a gun in his hand. 

Holy crap.

I backed away and headed towards the door. The man came walking towards me. 

"Border the house. Quickly!" I heard Lucas yell.

I opened the door to Dani's house and locked it. Who leaves their door open?

"You ever heard of Sorbus scopulina? In other words, mountain ash," he continued "now you can't escape from the house and Dani's all mine. He's beginning to uncover what happened that day, I'm afraid I'll have to make him shut up." 

I peered through the peephole only to find him gone, along with his pal. 

Dani appeared and I opened the door. I tried to tell him to remove the mountain ash but he had his headphones in and he was facing the ground. The man who was with Lucas quickly ran up to him and covered his mouth with a cloth. I ran towards him but bounced back by the force of the mountain ash. 

"DON'T FALL ASLEEP DANI. DON'T BREATH IN THE CHEMICAL. DANI NO!" I yelled. It was too late since his arms dropped and his body was weak.
