Jack's POV

"Time to take attendance!" Mr. Alex says as he grabs the clipboard that he had in his hands moments before. I zone out until I hear my name roll off his tongue. "Jack Barakat?" he says as his eyes wonder the classroom. "H-He-Here." I say quietly and raise my hand slightly. Several people snicker at my studder but I just roll my eyes. He smiles widely as his eyes lock with mine. He looks down and continues with roll call as I zone out.

*fast forward to end of class*

*BLING*
The bell screeches as I collect all of my notebooks and text books. I hastily zip up my bag and sling it over my shoulder. I look down and start to walk out of the classroom. As I am about to make it out the door, a voice stops me.
"Woah! Sick backpack man!" A familiar voice calls to me. I turn around to see Mr. Alex staring at me with a smile. "Thank you, sir." I say and blush slightly. "Have a good day, Jack." he says to me with a wink. My blush intensifies as I rush out of the classroom and to my locker.

"You like him don't you?" I hear a voice coo at me. "Shut up Jinx." I say as I blush harder and situate my new set of text books into my bag. "Awe you know you love me." she says as she nudges me with her shoulder. "Yeah yeah yeah." I say as I poke her with my elbow as I smile. "I've known you since 5th grade I can tell when you have a crush on someone." she says with a grin. "Whatever." I say with a smile and ruffle her short pastel hair. "Hey! Watch the hair!" she says as she swats at my hand and laughs. "Come on, let's get to class." I say as we both rush down the hall.

"Jack likes the new teacher!" Jinx sings at our lunch table. I kick her foot as the 3 other members of our small friend group laugh. "The new English one I'm guessing?" Meredith asks and flicks a piece of her emerald green hair away from her face. Jinx nods excitedly and I scoff. "Dude you should go for it." Rian says as he takes a bite of his too large sandwich. Zack nods in agreement as he doesn't talk much. "Um no. First off, I do not like him. And second off, oh yeah he's a fucking teacher!" I say with a roll of my eyes. "Whatever, you should try to get that ass." Meredith says and we all laugh.

Rian meets my eyes and nudges his head towards the door next to us. All of our eyes trail over to see Mr. Alex walking into the cafeteria. "Good afternoon, children." he says jokingly. "I'll have you know I am 12.9, SIR!" Jinx says and all six of us laugh. "Yeah!" Meredith calls with a snicker. "Whatever, Jasey Rae." he says with a smile as he starts to walk away. "It's Jinx!" she yells at him and we all snicker. "I'll call you whatever I want, Jasey Rae. Goodbye Meredith, Rian, Zach, Jasey. Bye bye Jack!" he says with a wide grin and walks away.

"He's into you." I hear Zack's quiet voice say. "Pssssh, no!" I try to say confidently but my voice cracks. All of them start to laugh and I mumble "just eat your food." with a smile on my face.
