"All the haunted memories..."
Voicemail #9:
Do you know what happened to me when I ran out the apartment building, Yoandri? My converse slapped hard and fast against the paved ground as my heart pouded with the same intensity. Then, I felt a sharp blow on my ankle out of nowhere. It was like a stab from a knife . It was like a sprain.
No, it wasn't any of those.
It was like reality punched me on the jaw when I saw you on top of her.
Again and again.
Pursing my lips to hold back the cries, I stopped myself from running. I slowed down, my breathing turned into heavy pants, and once I stood in place, my vision blurred into a fog-like haze.
And it hurts.
Hot tears suddenly cascaded my cheeks and my hands clutching mt t-shirt in a tight grip. Yet, nothing felt worse when my throat strained as I tried holding back my sobs, but my chest quickly heaved up and down, forcing me to let them be free.
So I did.
They escaped and I muttered your name in-between as if I was praying.
Hoping for denial.
But, in the back of my mind, I knew what I saw was real.
