"She would rather look at him than breathe air and that was everything..."

Voicemail #11:

When I finished crying, I thought I would call up Joel and crash at his place. He wouldn't mind since his parents were overseas and he always had the house to himself.

But I didn't do that.

Do you know what I did, Yoandri?

Do you remember?

Well, I headed back inside.

Do you know what else?

I decided to pretend that I didn't hear, see, and know anything.

Nothing at all.

Once I cleared my throat and smoothed my hands down my shirt, I opened the front door. I called you out. You responded in an excited tone and my heart felt like it could leap out of my chest.

You sounded so happy,

But you weren't...

Keeping a grin on, you approached me. I nearly winced on the sight and scanned your face to see any differences.

There was a lot.

Your eyes were brighter. Your lips were more plump than usual. Your cheeks were literally glowing. . .

T-then, there was the most obvious - the visible scatters of purple and pink near the side of your neck. . .

And, I saw them for the second time.

Then a third time.

Then a fourth time.

But. . . I didn't say anything to you.

Question you, accuse you.

I only hugged you and said, "I love you, Yoandri. I love you so much."
