I'm running through the woods, my lungs seizing in my chest. Something was chasing after me, something inhuman. The woods begin to recede and a road appears in front of me. I'm in the middle of the road and a car starts to show around the corner. I begin to run towards it, only to stop dead in my tracks. It's my truck and I'm in the driver's seat, on my phone. Everything suddenly stops and I'm back in my mom's apartment standing over Richards dead corpse, his eyes are open and staring right at me. I look over to see my mother, frozen in complete terror, tears streaking down her eyes. Time starts again and she notices me. "Monster! You are not my daughter! What have you DONE!" She shouts, walking towards me. My mother's hands grip my throat and i'm too shocked to fight back. Tears begin to fall down my face and I scream.
...
I'm shaking, no, someone's shaking me. I open my eyes only to close them again. I hold back my screams and rub my eyes until they're dry and begin to heal. I reopen my eyes and my vision begins to clear. I see Adrian standing over the bed, with worry clouded over his face. "Sorry, sorry, I was just having a nightmare." I said, sitting up and rubbing a hand through my hair. Adrian takes a deep breath, and sits down at the foot of the bed, "I know, it's just you started to scream and tears were burning your face. I was worried." The door opened, and Arthur walked in with two blood bags. My eyes go wide and my throat tightened Arthur handed Adrian one of the bags and the other one to me. I looked at it, turning it around in my hands. I gripped the bag and bring it to my mouth. I ripped into the bag, letting the sweet euphoric blood flow into my mouth. My senses began to heighten. I hear the stream of blood travel down my throat. I smell the flowers from the garden outside. I see the splinters of woods in the door and the particles of dust on the window. The bag falls out of my hands and into my lap. Adrian was done with his already and was watching me in awe and understanding, "Amazing, isn't it?" Adrian says, standing up. Arthur opens the door and gestures me out, "Come on Brea, You have to shower, right?" I nod, looking down at myself. I'm still in the clothes I wore to school 3 days ago and my shirt is stained with blood. I cringe, "I don't have any of my clothes here." Arthur looks confused and opens his mouth to say something but shuts it quickly, looking towards Adrian. Adrian blushes, then nods. "I've got some clothes you could borrow until we get you some new clothing." Adrian says, scratching the back of his head. I nod, walking out the door quickly to hide my blushing face. Arthur follows and walks me down a hallway. He stops in front of a plain white door and nods, "When you are done with your shower, please come down stairs. There are some things we need to discuss." I open the door and walk in the bathroom, which is gigantic. Someone pokes me on the shoulder, and I turn a bit too quickly, stumbling into Adrian. He backs up quickly, "Sorry for that. Here's a flannel, some jeans and.." He mutters, handing me the clothes and some underwear, " Elizabeth wouldn't give me any of her clothing, so Aeliana gave me that to give to you." He said, walking out of the bathroom and shutting the door. I set the clothes down on the counter near the sink. I look up at the mirror, mesmerized. My once fairly tan skin is now a pale creamy white. My dark blue eyes now an icy pale blue. My face had no more blemishes. I turn away from the mirror and turn towards the shower. I turn the knob and steaming water comes spewing out of the shower head. I peel off my clothing and step into the shower, letting the blood wash off of my skin.
...
After my shower, I dry my hair and begin to put on the clothing Adrian gave me. The jeans are slightly bigger but fit snug on my waist. The flannel, however, is very big on me, and my hands aren't even showing out of the sleeves. I look at myself in the mirror again. I am still in disbelief on how different I look and yet still the same. I turn away from the mirror and head out of the bathroom. I walk the same way Arthur and I had come from, and soon find the stairs. The house is absolutely exquisite. I walk down the steps very slowly, still not in control of my vampire speed. When I reach the bottom of the stairs, I look up to see four figures sitting on an arrangement of two large couches. Arthur is sitting next to a very mysterious and alluring woman on one couch. On the other couch, Adrian is sitting with the girl who appeared in my doorway with Arthur on the night I arrived. The girl, Elizabeth, was giving me a very temperamental look. Arthur beamed at me and beckoned for me to sit near him. I walk over and take my seat at the edge of the couch, farthest away from anyone. Arthur clears his throat, "Brea, I would like to introduce you to my family that is now yours. This lovely woman is my partner, Aeliana." He said, wrapping an arm around the woman next to him. Elizabeth stands up, and heads towards the stairs. Aeliana looks up and in a split second is standing in front of Elizabeth, blocking the stairway. "You will sit back down, Elizabeth, Talia Morte and you will welcome our new family member without resistance. Am I clear?" Aeliana said with empowerment. Elizabeth rolled her eyes and zoomed back on the couch. Aeliana returns to the couch in a blink of an eye. "Sorry about that, Brea, Elizabeth is very rude when it comes to strange, new vampires." Aeliana says, smiling warmly. Arthur nods a thank you to Aeliana and turns his head to me, "There are a few matters of which we need to discuss, the first being the unfortunate encounter you had last night," Arthur pauses, making sure he has my attention, "You attacked your mother's lover, and took his life. Do you remember that?" Arthur questioned. I took a shaky breath, "I remember everything t-that happened. Is my mother alright? Will she remember anything?" I said timidly. Arthur closed his eyes and a wave of raw, tranquil emotion washed over me. I took a deep breath and relaxed my shoulders. How in the world? "It's Arthur's special ability." Adrian said, breaking the serene silence. I tilt my head in confusion and look at Arthur. "When a human is turned into a vampire, certain perks as well as cons become a part of that being. A special ability is one of the prominent perks. The ability is tailored to who you once were as a human. My special ability is to control the emotional atmosphere around me. Aelianas ability is teleportation. Adrian's is to not only hear the thoughts of human minds but also vampire minds. Elizabeth's ability is telekinesis." Arthur says, looking into my eyes. Curious, I look over at Adrian. So, you can hear every thought of every vampire? Adrian, looking slightly amused, nodded. "Anyways," Arthur said, "The incident that occurred will not repeat itself, Brea. I understand you were very angry and that is a trait of every new vampire. But there will be no more killing in this household, understood?" Arthur gazed at me with a serious glare. I nodded my head. This is going to be one hell of a ride.
