Chapter 2

Surprising

The agent dropped me off at the entrance of the hotel, as I walked in the entrance I saw Mr. Henderson my teacher and some of my friends waiting in the lobby. They came rushing to me when I opened the doors and walked in. they all asked different questions at the same time I had no idea what they were saying.

"Whoaw, one at a time I can't understand anything you all are saying."

"Nora why were you with the secret service?" Mr. Henderson asks.

"I was at the parade down town and the President was walking in it and well I kind of saved his life, and they wanted to ask me some questions."

"Cool!"

"What was it like?"

Two of my friends said at the same time.

"Well at least safe," Mr. Henderson says but I swear I could also hear him mumbling to himself "one of my students saved the Presidents life, oh my god!"

I smiled at those word. Having someone you know being close to the President even in a short period of time can be very shocking.

After answering all their question, my friends and I went back to our room to get ready for tomorrows trip to the white house.

The next morning my whole Junior class got ready to go to the White House tour. We got on the buses that were going to take us to the White House. The bus was loud from all the chattering from my classmates. After passing through all the security our tour guide led us around the White House through all the colorful rooms. Along the walls at every corner there were secret service agents watching all of us. It was starting to get near to lunch time our tour guide led us to a room were we could eat our lunches. My friends and I hurried to get a table for ourselves before the other kids took them all. Half way through our lunch I see that the director had walked in and was heading toward the teachers table were Mr. Henderson and the tour guide was eating. He walks up to them and shakes their hands and sits down and starts talking to them.

"Who is that?" my friend Meghan asks following my gaze.

"He's the director of secret service, he's the one that was asking me all the questions yesterday."

"I wonder what's he's doing here?"

To answer her question Mr. Henderson stood up and looked around the room like he was looking for someone. His eyes stopped at me. "Nora can you please come here?"

Both Meghan and I looked at each other. I got up throwing the rest of my lunch away while walking towards their table.

The director greeted me "It's good to see you again."

"Same here."

"The President would like to see you because of what happened yesterday."

"Well, okay."

I follow the director to a door with two secret service agents standing on both sides. One of them knocks on the door and opened the door. The director and I walk in. I look around the room, I'm in the oval office. The President was sitting in the chair behind the desk.

"Hello, you must be Nora, I wanted to thank you in person for saving my life."

"Uh, you're welcome." I replied not knowing exactly what to say to the President of the United States of America.

"I hear that you have agreed take on the job and that you will be working with Agent Mathis. Well I hope he doesn't give you a hard time after the fight you both just had." He says with a smile on his face.

We both said our good-byes and I went back to rejoin my class, but before I left, the director gives me an IPhone and tells me that it's ONLY used for work and me to try and keep it out of anyone's sight.

When I rejoined my class my other friend Erica comes up to me. "Where did you go with that man?"

"I got to meet with the President because of what happened yesterday."

"Wow so lucky!"

We completed the tour and returned to the hotel. We talked and played games for the rest of the day. Tomorrow we would return to Lincoln and my new life would start.
