Chapter 7

FINALLY!!

The school year is finally over and I passed all of my classes. On the last day of school a letter addressed to my parents came it was about a camp to help your son or daughter get ready for next school year. It would almost last the whole summer, but it would not be just school work because they would have some trips to go around the world to keep it entertaining. The letter was actually the cover story that Mr Banton sent to my parents. He just had to make it convincing enough to let my parents agree. When my parents read the whole letter they were thrilled to have something for me to do for the summer and it was even better if it was to get me ready for next year. So they agreed to send me. A week into the summer the camp director (Aka Agent Mathis) came to my house to pick me up and bring me to the camp.

Over the summer I met three other agents that I would be working with. The day that I met them I was in the training room with Mathis doing hand to hand combat when the door opened and three men came walking in.

"Well that's enough for now." Mathis says "I'd like you to meet some of my colleagues." Indicating to the three men that just walked in.

I nodded at them. I'm not very good with meeting new people.

"This is Special Agent Davidson." Indicating to the man to the far left. He was a muscular European guy with short curly dark brown hair, about in his 30's.

"Next is Special Agent Barkov." Indicating to the man that stood in the middle. He looked the youngest out of the three. A Russian guy with shoulder length dark brown hair.

"Hello." He said with a thick Russian accent.

"And lastly Special Agent Walker." Walker had short light brown hair.

"Hey." I say not knowing what to say.

They look at me like they shouldn't even be here.

"Now that everyone is here let me explain what you three will be doing here. We are creating a new team of elite personal. We will be training and going on mission together so this is the time for you all to get to know each other. This is Nora you will all get the chance to train with her. So you can learn different things about each other. For the next couple years we will be working together. Even if she is still a high school student she is still a very skillfully ally to the secret service. But as for now we will be working separate from the service and creating a new team called The Hawks. We will be assigned special missions approved by the director then later on by the President. Any questions?"

Agent Davidson stepped forward. "Sir, all three of us aren't sure if we should be working with a high school girl. What..."

"That is why for the next couple weeks you will each be assigned a day to train with her and get to know each other." He said cutting Davidson off. "Nora, can I see the phone that you were given?"

I hand over the IPhone. He takes it and hands it over to the other agents "put your numbers in the phone." They each take the phone and put their numbers in the phone and pass it back to me.

The rest of the day I practiced all the abilities I have while the three agents are watching me so they can see what I can do. Each day I would spend the day with a different agent and we would get comfortable working with each other. Before the summer ended we were allowed to bring me on missions which were not always in Michigan, so I got to be able to travel around the U.S. When I was at places other than Michigan I had to take pictures of places I went to my parents to keep the cover. We would always arrive a couple days early so I could go explore were ever we went.

The last month of summer was coming closer and it would be about time for me to go home and cross country camp. The week before I was supposed to leave to go home Mathis and I were called to the director's office. We walked down the hallway to his office that morning. Mathis knocked on the door.

"Come in." came a voice from inside.

He opened the door and we both walked in.

"Sit down both of you. I called both of you today because I wanted to discuss about you being on the cross country team might just bring to much attention to yourself, and it would be better if you were to just not do cross country the rest or your high school so we wouldn't have to worry about anything bad happening because of a mistake."

"What!! I can't just quit the cross country team it's the only sport that I do in high school and it was my parents' idea since everyone in my family at least does one sport. If you want me to quit you would have to take it to my parents which is not possible in all of our situation. That would just revile too much about me so I have to stay on the cross country team till I graduate."

Half an hour of arguing of what I'm going to do with cross country we came up with an answer that we all agreed with.

"You will continue cross country but after school on of the agents will pick you up and bring to practice and home from practice. We'll have a cover story for the agent explaining why he is always near you. Also you will have a list of rules that you will have to follow while you are not working."

He hands me a list of rules and we leave his office.

Rules:

1. Don't draw attention to your self

2. Trust no one

3. Stay alert at all times

4. Watch, look, and listen

5. Be quick but don't hurry

6. Always have a plan B

7. When there's trouble think fast and act appropriately

8. Let people underestimate you so they will never know what you're capable of.

9. The bravest thing is not always the smartest thing

10. Cooperate with the authorities but don't tell them more than they need to know

11. Being out of control will get you killed

12. Never start a fight

13. Stay alive

14. Don't use your abilities

15. Follow the other agents instructions

"Alright." I say after reading them all.

I have to use these rules when I'm at camp and also at school. The day before I left Mathis hands me a badge with a hawk on it and on the bottom the name Slyth my code name. He also gave me a gun "use only for emergencies" were his specific instructions.

At camp the rules were a lot harder to follow than I thought. During camp we ran twice a day for 6 days straight. The annoying thing is that I couldn't go at the speed that I wanted I had to hold back in order to not draw attention to myself. After our morning run we always have a couple hours to ourselves so I decided to make a list of all the things that I could do.

Abilities

-Fast endurance (running/speed)

-Control/create fire

-Control of the elements (water, air, earth, fire)

-Fast healing

-Enhanced hearing

-Telepathy

-Telekinesis

-Fighting (hand to hand combat/different types of weapons)

-Enhanced sight (day/night)

When they found me I had only one out of nine. They all appeared while training. Looking around I saw that no one was near me I snap my fingers and the paper burns to ashes leaving no trace of a paper.
