CHAPTER 10
School went by with, surprisingly, no incidents. It shocked me, really.
I mean, I had put Wonder Racer in the cops hands, but what about the other 'villain?' The Mage? Where was she today? For some reason it seemed like the visions always had to come at the most inconvenient times, and it seemed like they knew not to come the one time I wasn't rushing to get somewhere. That was ridiculously impossible, of course.
I did have to admit that it was nice to have a break. I just wished I could have had it last night, on my date with Hunter. I really hoped he hadn't noticed how off I had been mentally. Of course, he was probably feeling the oddity last night as well, since the mood had never really been right since I arrived late.
After a goodbye kiss from Hunter and a hug from Rashal, I sprinted in the direction of my house. Tonight I had lessons with Kody.
For some reason, the thought made me really excited and eager for night to fall. I was ready to learn new techniques and tricks. Seeing how well they had worked against Wonder Racer motivated me, since it would mean I had to spend less time fighting the villains.

I was a little early to the lesson, so I sat on a bench and waited as the clock ticked slowly. Glancing at my watch every five seconds, I noticed that it seemed to take forever for the five minutes to pass.
As usual, Kody arrived at precisely seven o'clock, and he gave me a quick nod when he spotted me.
"You're on time today." He said it like he was surprised, and glanced at his watch and back at me as if to reassure himself it was really happening.
I faked a frown. "Of course. I'm always on time." This playful joke reminded me of the look on Hunter's face when I showed up late to our date - again. I couldn't keep letting him down like this. It wouldn't help our relationship.
Standing, I turned to Kody. I had to get my mind off how everything had gone wrong last night. "What's the lesson today?"
He smiled, walking over to me and leaning against the wall. "We're just going to discuss some things. I'll also answer any questions you have."
"Okay." I sat on the bench again, kind of relieved that there wouldn't be any strenuous exercises. My back felt like someone was taking a hammer to it whenever I moved around a lot.
Kody walked over and sat beside me, but not too close that it was uncomfortable. I was glad that he respected my space.
"First of all," he began, "When do you mostly find yourself having visions?"
It didn't take long for me to answer that. "When I'm around Hunter, or going to meet Hunter. It's actually really obnoxious."
Kody bit his lip and nodded slowly. Then he asked, "Why do you think this is?"
I shrugged. I had actually been wondering myself. "I don't really know. I thought maybe it had something to do with my heart rate or something, because I get excited around him. I really don't know."
He laughed lightly at my thoughts and I frowned at him.
"It's not that silly." I crossed my arms grouchily.
Leaning his head back, he chuckled. "With all the running you do, don't you think that would get your heart rate up?"
I thought about it. I guess he was right. Other things, not just Hunter, could get my heart rate up. Although running was easy, it most likely still made my heart rate get up, even if I didn't sweat or pant.
