~First-Person Narration: MoonShadow~

I watched as Vapor, Firefly, WheelJack, JumpStart and Raven left for the roof. I was left alone with Ratchet . . .

Shadow: “So, just us then?”

    I asked cautiously.

Ratchet: “The humans are in the back. I’m sure Miko will be up soon. That girl has a nose for trouble.”

    What was he talking about?

Shadow: “Humans?”

Ratchet: “This planet's indigenous species. More trouble than they’re worth if you ask me.”

All of a sudden, excitement rushed through my body. Intelligent life forms were here on Earth and they were indigenous?

Shadow: “How old are they? What are they made of? Are they cute?”

Ratchet: “How about you go find out?”

I couldn’t quite pinpoint his tone, but it seemed . . . teasing? Not mean, but light teasing. I won’t deny that I was psyched about the prospect of it.

Shadow: “Really? You don’t need me out here?”

Ratchet: “I’m sure I can fix this thing while Optimus and the others at the decoy base.”

I was already heading towards the back of the base, towards this system of hallways and doorways. But it was night out . . . I paused in the doorway opening to the back rooms of the base, and looked back at the medic.

Shadow: “They aren’t resting?”

Ratchet: “Oh I’m sure they are, but Miko won’t mind. I’m sure she’ll be glad to get up for someone as exciting as you.”

“Exciting”. My cat-like audio receptors pressed flat against my helm in hurt. That was how he viewed me; “exciting”.

Shadow:  “Thanks.”

My tone conveyed how upset I was, and Ratchet caught on quickly.

Ratchet: “Shadow, I didn’t-.”

I walked into the back, not wanting to hear his excuse for his ‘slip’. And that was being optimistic; I wasn’t even sure if it was a slip. I ignored whatever words he’d tried to speak, but I heard him sigh, and go back to his work with clicking of and beeping of advanced ‘human’ keyboards. Or maybe they were rough Cybertronian keyboards . . . I wasn’t sure.

Nonetheless, I turned my attention back to the hallway I was walking through, and the humans Ratchet said would be here.

Shadow: “Hello? Humans? Helloooo?”

I didn’t hear the human girl come out of one of the rooms behind me. Her tone was tired, but growing with hidden energy.

Miko: “Marco?”

I turned around to look at her; she wore an unusual outfit, with olive skin, amber eyes and her . . . hair? fur? was black with pink streaks.

Shadow: “Marco?”

    I questioned.

Miko: “Polo!”

She replied, her tone stronger than before and obviously perked up. She was . . .

Shadow: “Oh My ALLSPARK!!! YOU ARE ADORABLE!!!”

I picked her up in my servos without a second thought.
