Chapter 4: The Guild

Lucy POV

Why should I have to take the demon to the guild?? What does he want there anyway? What if... no! I won't let that happen!

I got dressed in the bathroom because of our "guest." I finished with a high ponytail on the right, then grabbed my keys.

"About time!" Natsu said to me as I came out.

I glared at him.

"Let's just get this over with already," I replied.

"Trying to get rid of me already?" he teased.

I ignored him and walked to the front door with Happy. He was silent too. But who can blame him?

I opened the door, then we set off to the guild.

Gray POV

I don't know who he is, but I do know that I don't like him.

He walked in with Lucy and Happy, acting all smug and smirking. Lucy and Happy, on the other hand, looked miserable.

And I'm not sure why, but his pink hair ticked me off. But what I was most pissed about was the fact that he walked in like he owned the place.

"Lucy! Happy! Who's this with you? A friend of yours?" asked Mira, who standing behind the bar.

"Um... I suppose you could say that," replied Lucy.

"I'm Natsu Dragneel," said the stranger, quickly followed by a friendly smile. "I met Lucy and Happy on their last job. We talked for a bit then I asked if sh could bring me here. I've been a fan of Fairy Tail for a while and I really wanted to see it in person." Pause. "And I was thinking that I might be able to join."

Clearly, this shocked Lucy. No, she looked terrified. That's definitely not the look of someone who had friendly conversation with that person. So I decided to speak up.

"And just what kind of magic do you use, Pinky?"

His expression changed.

"What did you just call me?"

"Gray, don't go picking fights," said a voice behind me.

I turned to look behind me and found the Master to be the owner of the voice.

"Tch! Whatever."

He sighed, then walked towards Natsu.

"Although, I can't say I'm not curious. What type of magic do you use, Natsu?"

In response, he held out his hand palm up. A small flame began to dance in it.

"Oh, a flame mage. It's pretty common but there's so many kinds." Pause. "Now tell me, what reason do you have for wanting to join our guild?"

"I've been looking for a place to get good work for a while, but I haven't had  any luck. Then I met Lucy when she was on a job and told me that she was a member of Fairy Tail. So I thought I would try it out," he replied. "Plus it's a good chance to spend more time with her."

He wrapped his arm around her shoulder, which caused Lucy to flinch. It was hardly noticeable, but I saw it. He may have been playing the friendly-guy act, but he ain't fooling me. No one else has probably noticed it though. Guy's a pretty good actor.

I guess I'll play along for a bit. This could get interesting...

"Very well," said Master. "I don't see why I should refuse. Not when you are clearly good friends with Lucy."
