Meriah's pov /

One week later

I'm really excited because today's my solo for cheer. Im nervous but then again I'm not cause my dad's gonna be there. My mom's can't come because of empire stuff and I have no problem with it. I went home and changed in some yoga pants and a tank top. Nobody was home. Mini went with her boyfriend to the mall. Mom and dad were at empire where I'm sure my other mom was too. I just chilled , ate , watched Netflix , ate again , slept , then ate once again , then got ready for the show tonight. I turned on my music and put on my spandex and my skirt over it. I put on my top and did my hair. I put my bow on top and grabbed my cheer bag and got in the truck where my driver took me to the school where I'm performing at.

I posted on Snapchat during the drive and once we got to the school I hopped out

"Don't worry about picking me up , my dad will bring me home" I said

"Okay , good luck" said Jermaine as he drove off

I walked in and put my bag in the locker room which was surprisingly empty and started stretching until my phone started ringing

"Cause my best friend finna she finna , oh go best friend that's my that's my best friend , yaass , you betta " the song blasted letting me know my best friend was calling

"Hello" I said

"Where you at" asked deja

"Locker room" I said hanging up

A few seconds later my best friend waltzed in loud as always

"Girl cmon we finna start" she said

I locked my stuff in my locker and followed her out we walked in the auditorium and I saw so many people oh my lord.

"Now give it up for ms Meriah Lyon" said the speaker boy on the microphone. As soon as he said my name every one went crazy

"5 , 6 , 7 , 8" I counted as my music started. But I just let myself flow into the music as I flipped jumped and cheered I wasn't to scared cause I knew my dad was up there watching me. Cmon riah almost done I told myself as I got to the middle of the song once I finished I heard a roar of applause and I walked off stage. I smiled to myself cause I know I killed it.

After the competition

"Girl I can't believe you won first place" said deja

"I know ain't that crazy , but I'm hoping that they didn't give me this first place title just because of my last name" I said

"You still killed it" she said

"Thank you best friend" I said

"You needa ride" she asked as her mom honked the horn

"Na my dad's here , thank you though , love you" I said

"Love you too" she said as she got in the car

I sat down on a bench waiting for my dad and after all the cars in the parking lot started to fade out I realize that my dad wasn't there. Wow.... All my life my dad has never broken one of his promises to me so what changed tonight?

I sighed and picked up my cheer bag and put it on my shoulder and started walking I thought it'd be best just so I can clear my head.
