Anyway, welcome to fangirl mania, where I fangirl over characters/artwork/songs/voice actors and so on and so forth WITH RECKLESS ABANDON! (okay, not really)
My name's Sue and today, I'm going to be fangirling over Rock friggn' Lee.
Even though he's not exactly what people would call an "underrated" character (although I would often beg to differ), he's not exactly as appreciated as the rest of the cast. He IS appreciated of course, but just...not as much as the "main" cast and he truly deserves a lot more.
:Introducing Rock Lee, AKA Rokku Rii, AKA the epitome of YOUTH:
As a kid, Rock Lee was a hard worker. Even after being ridiculed and mocked by his fellow classmates for not being able to use ninjutsu or genjutsu, he still worked his ass off and believed, very deeply, that he could become one hell of a ninja (oh, hello Sebas-chan!); because of the fact that he was unable to use ninjutsu or genjutsu, he placed all his time and attention on taijutsu, to prove to others that a ninja can be one that is only good at taijutsu: he even managed to graduate as a genin. (Which I'm really curious about, but the flashbacks of his teacher, Might Guy, could explain it...I guess.)
Unlike his sensei though, who actually wanted to give up on several occasions, Lee fought for his dream, which was to become a powerful ninja without the use of ninjutsu or genjutsu. His own teammates made fun of him for pursuing such an "impossible" dream, but he kept at it. His attitude particularly intrigued Might Guy, thus leading the jounin into teaching Lee a lot of powerful taijutsu techniques.
Okay, story summary aside (unless y'all wanna read something that's a couple pages long/if yes, please refer to Narutopedia lel)...Lee is an amazing dude. He's beyond nice and actually dislikes it when others treat their rivals or enemies with distaste. His heart is incredibly pure and he wishes the best for probably every person around him. Even though he seems dense at times, he's actually very skilled during a fight or a mission; he's a fast thinker when placed in dire situations, can focus on more than one thing at a time and can still think of a strategy in the middle of a fight. His nature is forgiving (hence the "pure heart"), he has an adorable, innocent sense-of-humor and an incredibly profound will to keep on, keepin' on.
There aren't many fanfics out there about him and honestly, he barely appears in ANY fanfics as a significant character (unless he's used as a plot device) and for some reason, doesn't get as much love as he deserves! (I'm planning on changing that...just wait for the sequel lolololol)
I have, however, seen a lot of really cool artwork on dA featuring Rock Lee being paired with Naruto OCs, which is hella adorable. (THANK YOU!)
I also see fanart of him with Tenten or Sakura. WHICH IS ALSO ADORABLE, THANK YOU.
And I'm still upset that I don't know who his damn wife is or if he even had a wife. Like, where the hell did Metal Lee come from? A stork?!
Anyway, if you've read a good fanfic that includes Lee in it, please suggest it to me! I'd love to read it. I personally get really excited when I see him appear in a fanfiction – in a lot of ways, he's like Naruto, so if you love the little Uzumaki, then you'd definitely love Lee as well, wouldn't you? (did I mention he's so freaking amazingly FAST and strong as hell? I have no idea why he isn't as muscular though. Comparing him to Shira from the chūnin exam filler arc, Lee should be almost as bulky as him...right? >> oh well...*cough* blame Kishi *cough*)
