Chapter 4
Nadine smiles sadly and walks backwards a little bit “Chez, we can’t”
“Why not Nadine? I know you want me too”
“You know why we can’t”
“I really don’t” Cheryl says walking closer to Nadine and placing her hands on her waist
“The band, the fans and the small fact that I’m not gay”
Cheryl looks Nadine directly in the eyes “Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t feel any feelings towards me”
Nadine looks down and continues backing away “I’m sorry” She walks to the edge of the pool and gets out. She grabs her towel and walks inside leaving Cheryl heartbroken.
Cheryl swims to the side of the pool to get out. She walks over to her towel and wraps it round herself. Sitting down on one of the lounge chairs she breaks down in tears.
Nadine is in her bedroom looking out of the window down at Cheryl with tears in her eyes “What have I done”
The next day Sarah and Nicola are munching on every bit of junk food they can get their hands on whilst chatting about their night. Kimberley is in the kitchen making herself a cup of tea when she sees Nadine enter “Hey babe, how’d it go with Cheryl last night?”
Nadine sits down and sighs “Terrible”
Frowning Kimberley sits down opposite the girl and puts the two teas on the table “What happened?”
“We went in the pool for a bit and then she kissed me”
“How did it feel?”
Nadine smiles “It was nice” Shaking her head she continues “I freaked out and left her in the pool crying”
“Why?”
“I’m not gay Kim”
“I know” Kimberley says getting up and walking around the table to sit next to the younger girl “I think you should have a long think about what you really want Nadz”
Before Nadine could reply Cheryl walks into the kitchen and puts the kettle on “Hey”
“Hey” Kim replies smiling up at the girl “Ready for the clubbing tonight?”
“Yeah” Cheryl says pouring her tea “I need to blow off some steam”
Nadine smiles politely at Cheryl when they make eye contact
“I’m gonna go munch it out with the girls. Cya in a bit” Cheryl says walking into the living room to be with Sarah and Nicola
“She can’t stand to be in the same room as me” Nadine frowns “I wish things were simple”
“People can’t help how they feel”
“But why feel it towards me?” Nadine stands and walks to the living room door standing in the doorway to watch the girls “Why can’t we stay friends?”
Feeling someone watching her, Cheryl looks up to Nadine and smiles before looking back to Nicola who’s talking.
Nadine turns back to Kimberley “I don’t know what to do”
It’s later on in the day and all the girls are getting ready to go out. Cheryl is helping Nicola with her hair “No getting drunk tonight Nic” Cheryl winks at the girl in the mirror.
“Sod off” The younger sticks her tongue out “You out for a man tonight then?”
Cheryl smiles “Nah”
