"So how was the honeymoon?", my sneaky friend Jodel asked.
I was removing my lab coat and placing it inside my locker when she caught me in the employee's locker room. Not that I was having a spat with my friends, but I just wanted to avoid their teasing.
I blushed profusely while I rolled my eyes heavenward.
"I knew it! He's a biggie!", she shrieked.
"Shush! Someone might hear you", I reprimanded her but I couldn't help the slight smile that appeared on my lips.
"He's that good huh?", she pursed her lips.
"Oh, stop it!", I giggled.
"Only a woman with no pussy will turn that handsome hunk down, I tell you", Mina.
I didn't know she was right behind us. We turned around and saw her hanging her stethoscope on her nape.
"Oh, shut up you two. Don't you have work to do?", I complained, laughing softly.
"We do but we're still busy with you", Jodel giggled.
"Oh, for God's sake, leave me alone", I shook my head but still smiling. I hurriedly walked past them, leaving them both baffled.
"Hey! You can't escape us. This is more important", Jodel.
They both tried to catch up with me.
"Your patient's BP is 81 over 47", Mina informed her.
"Oh shit! Wait, I'll be right back", then she left.
Mina and I were left shaking our heads.
"She's so nosy", Mina sighed.
"She won't be our Jodel if she isn't".
"So, now you tell me. How was it?", her brows arched.
"Not you, too!", I exclaimed.
"I wanna know. I'm your BFF", she pouted.
"I- it was fine".
"Just fine?", she drawled.
"No", I gave out a small laugh. "Actually it was great. I've got nothing to compare it with. He's so gentle, so handsome, so caring, so loving... Do you think it's odd for me to feel this?"
"Feel what?"
'"I don't know, I can't explain it. I just met him and I barely knew the guy but I'm having this strange feelings towards him. It's scaring me Mina", I frowned.
"He's your husband Nic".
"I know. It's just that... it frightens me".
"Are you in love with him?"
"What?! No! That's impossible".
"Maybe you are. It could happen fast in some cases."
"Mina, you know we didn't start in a normal relationship".
"Then try to get to know him. People fall in love even at first meet-ups, Nicolaa".
I bit my lip. She wasn't aware I saw Eric before in my dreams. Several times, in fact. No one knew, but me. I never told anyone for they might find it strange but I was tempted to tell her though.
I took a deep breath to calm myself.
No, I'm not going to tell anyone.
It was a kept secret that I couldn't disclose.
"Why not give it a chance? Maybe you'll learn to love him. You have a good man in your life now. Isn't that what you wanted?"
I smiled shyly at her and bit my lower lip. With that gesture she knew that what she said was right.
