I found myself staring back into the child's demonic onyx eyes in silence. Well..trying as my vision keeps blurring and my head keeps thumping.

Gotta talk with it at some point.

You need to keep moving and cross into the territory ahead.

"You're a sick fuck for using the vessel of a child, you know that. Also, I liked what you did there with the tree, very smart. However, in comparison to the many other occasions where you've tried to kill me, this was the least impressive."

There was a pregnant pause until a mocking gruff male voice came out of its mouth, "Aw, you didn't like it?"

It glanced down to see its body then shifted its focus back to me. "I got to say, I'm offended that you didn't tell me that I looked adorable in this vessel, I quite like it. Sucks that I had to kill her for it. But you know what, surprisingly there was no screaming and crying. This kid probably already knew its time on this shitty planet was up."

A couple of twigs snapped and out from the smog came a grinning brawny man. "The tree was actually my idea", he says. The massive man had snakes tattooed covering his bald head and mud covering his dark clothing.

Definitely wouldn't be surprised if there was blood splatter on them.

"Hello Afi, long time no see."

I turned to stare into the child's pitch-black pupil and sclera and tried to get closer to its face. "Hello to you too Alaric. You know, I thought this little game of chase would've stopped by now. It's been decades."

The child took a step back and snapped its tiny fingers. A tall lanky guy with platinum hair took the place where the child was standing before.

He messed with the skin around his dirty fingernails for a second before derisively saying, "You look like hell." He looks up and his eyes quickly study my appearance. "Not looking so angelic now huh? At least you had a couple of decades of fun with that old appearance of yours."

"Well I don't exactly know if you remember but I've been a fallen for over a century now. Also, don't you think that roaming around the earth for over 35 years and hiding in the most disgusting places begins to take a toll on us all? We can use you as an example because you look like shit yourself."

His jaw tightened and his eyes narrowed. Oops, I guess I hit a spot.

Of course you hit a spot, vanity is literally one of the oh-so-wonderful qualities of his kind."

The other side of my mind argues back. "You're technically one of them now."

I frowned internally and externally.

Afi comes out of the shadows with a glint in his eyes, cutting my running thoughts off. "Oh well I don't know Al", he says. Afi's hand stretches out to touch my face. "She's always had such a doll face." His hand begins to roam around my breasts. "And quite a delicate body too."

I tried smacking his grummy fingers away from me but being spellbound prevented me from doing so.

His hand travels down my body and stops at my calf. A loud crack is heard and the scream I let out bounces off the trees, the whole forest hearing my pain. My vision blurs even more with my tears.

"I love to hear you break below me." Afi's face gets near my own, close enough to the point that I can smell the death and decay coming from his breath. "I love to hear you scream too. It's like music to my ears."

"Come on Afi," Alaric drags, "we didn't come to play this time." Alaric slowly steps forward and takes his time to crouch down. "Where's the sword," he demanded.

"I don't know", I somehow managed to say through my clenching teeth.

Fuck, I feel like I'm about to pass out.

All I focus on right now is the horrific pain that is felt throughout my body. I lean my head against the base of the dense tree.

Suddenly, I feel a scorching pain travel through my scalp.

"Where's the sword," Alaric hissed into my ear, holding me close to him by having a hold on my hair.

"I don't know, I don't have it." Alaric grabs hold of me and holds a seraph blade to my throat.

"Lies", he screams violently.

I can't take this anymore.

"It's the truth," I sob out. The pain is too much for me to handle at this point. "I haven't seen Michael's sword since World War II happened. I don't know who took it after his disappearance."

In the background, I slightly notice Afi's outline roughly dumping all of the items that were inside my backpack onto the muddy forest floor.

He won't find anything.

Afi mumbled something under his breath. He began searching through my items again.

"Nothing but a bunch of mundane crap is in here Al." Alfi shakes my empty backpack and stares at us with his demonic eyes. "What are we going to do now?"

Alaric stills and a devilish look appears on his face. In that brief second, he knew what to do with me. He finally has me in his hands weak and brittle, with no wings to fly away like on the occasions before. He won't let me go now.

With a seraph blade, he begins to draw blood from my neck.

Death at last.

I closed my eyes, thinking that I could finally be a freed spirit, I could finally be at rest.

But Emily...my sister. I'll miss her so much. Silas, please continue keeping her safe. Goodness, I'll miss you too.

I was so deep in saying my mental goodbyes that I barely heard the horrifying noise coming from both of the bastards. I slightly opened my eyes to see them on the ground with wolves surrounding them.

Great.  More company.
