The first thing I was hit when I woke up again was the antiseptic smell from the room I was placed in. Buzzing in my ears is all I hear and my eyes take a second to focus. I tried to move my hands but something was keeping me tied down to the hospital bed - handcuffs. Great. Fucking assholes. Instead of staying focused on the handcuffs, I begin to focus on trying to get these stupid IVs off.
"Stop messing with your IVs," I looked up to see Alexis again.
Really," I said with a pointed look. "You had to knock me out? And oh, place handcuffs on me!?" I moved my arm side to side to make the cuffs jingle.
"I didn't knock you out, Alpha Ambrosios did. Secondly, the handcuffs were necessary after you planned to attack a fellow nurse. We needed to be careful." I rolled my eyes. "Look, I'm sorry, but I just want to get out of here. I need to get out of here."
"Aurora," She whirled around sounding frustrated, "I'm sorry. but even if you could go home you can't now. You are the Alpha's mate. There's nothing that could be done."
I can't believe it. This wasn't meant to happen. I was never supposed to be in the land of a Lycan clan. I was never supposed to have a lover. A mate. The story is repeating but it could not repeat itself. I was probably about to get out of this situation and be able to go back to what I was doing but now I will be stuck with a mate and a whole pack of Lycans. Fuck. I looked up at the ceiling, to the heavens, as if god would hear me. I prefer to be in purgatory than here.
The continuation of my petty thoughts was put to a halt as a silver gray-haired older gentleman dressed in scrubs and a white medical coat called out my name. "Hello, Aurora."
Alexis turned around to greet him and explain everything. "Hello, Doc. As you already know I came here to check on her readings and the IVs. Everything seems to be stable."
His eyes looked questionably at the handcuffs and he pointed to them. "Code Gray," Alexis replied monotonely.
"Oh, well, the Alpha ordered me to check out Aurora's injuries. You can wait out in the hall Alexis."
"It's alright, I'll stay here."
"That was order, I didn't imply that you had the option of choosing whether or not you'd stay here."
The young girl rolled her eyes. "Fine," She said before heading out the door.
As soon as she left, the older man drew nearer and mumbled some words before undoing the hands with a snap. He smiled and took my hand in his. "Hello, Aurora".
"You undid the handcuffs," I raised my eyebrow at him. "Are you sure about doing that?"
"I haven't been giving a reason as to why I should keep you in them."
"I gave everyone else a good reason. I was going to harm a nurse and escape."
"Well, if I was surrounded by strangers and wanted to desperately go home, I would have done the same." This had me giving him a lopsided grin. "I wish I could say I regret even thinking about it, but I don't. The one thing that I could say that bothers me is the young girl being mad at me."
"Young girl? You're quite young yourself." You can't reveal your identity, no matter how trustworthy or neutral this man may seem to be. "She is younger, of course. I'm 19 and she seems to be around 16."
"You correctly estimated it. And don't worry, Alexis will get over it. She grew quite close to you after she tried to help you in the forest and here in the hospital. Nobody else wanted to approach you out of fear except her." I looked up at him. " I will need to apologize, but I can not until I actually mean it. Hopefully, the sentiment will grow soon."
