Rewrite ch.1

Ok I'll put the first chapter on here and on the new book so please tell me what you think.

It was about a week after the school dance and Glynda was tasked with assembling the first year class in the auditorium so Ozpin could assign them to some sort of 'special mission'.
"Alright would you all please quiet down and listen closely." Glynda announced to the auditorium in a polite manner before Ozpin walked onto the stage and took her place in front of the podium.
The students all started to settle down and listen to what their headmaster had to say as he got closer to the mike.
"Hello students I am here to give you all a very special assignment. As you all may know Hunter and Huntress teams don't necessarily stick together after graduating from school and they do even sometimes form new teams, so as a little training exercise the faculty and I have decided that in order to see how well you all work with others we have decided to split you all into new two person duos and give you each a specific task during a mission for the entire first year class." Ozpin explained to them in a very calm tone and then gave them a minute to talk amongst themselves.
After the students chatted away at each other, talking about the exercise and who they may be teamed with Ozpin started to speak again.
"Ahem, the teams have been picked at random and will be announced by Mrs.Goodwitch after classes have concluded for the day." Ozpin told them and then a bell rang signaling for them to go to class.
The teams all went to their first classes and started to discuss the training exercise more.
"So who do you think they are going to pair up?" Ruby asked her teammates as she sat down for professor Port's class.
"Well that's up to the teachers, but I guess I would hope to get paired with someone from team JNPR." Yang replied while leaning back in her chair.
The other two members of the team didn't get a chance to answer as professor Port walked into the class room.
The classes seemed to drag on throughout the since everybody was excited about the surprise team up, after the final bell rang everyone got a notification on their scrolls to see who they were paired up with.
"So who did you get teamed up with sis?" Yang asked as she looked over Ruby's shoulder to see her scroll.
"I got teamed up with Pyrrah, what about you Yang?" Ruby asked, being a little excited that she was teamed up with one of her friends.
"Hmm, let me check." Yang replied while checking her scroll and seeing that she was teamed up with Dove Bronzewing, one of the members of team CRDL.
"Well let's just see who the others got paired with." Ruby said feeling a little bit bad for Yang.
"Yeah that sound alright." Yang grumbled as she followed Ruby to meet up with the rest of their team and team JNPR.
"So who did you guys get teamed up with?" Ruby asked after finding them and sitting down at the table they were at.
"Oh me first! I got teamed up with Weissy." Nora said childishly as she pointed over at team RWBY's resident ice queen.
"Well I got teamed up with that Russel guy from Cardin's team." Ren added as he looked at his own scroll.
Blake then looked at her own scroll and showed them that she was paired with Sky Lark, another member of team CRDL.
"Well I guess we all pretty much got stuck with a member of team CRDL." Jaune sighed as he showed his scroll which displayed that he was going to have to be teamed up with Cardin.
"Well he hasn't been bothering you too much lately so maybe you'll be fine." Pyrrah assured him as she rested a hand on Jaune's shoulder.
"Yeah I guess you have a point there, maybe it won't be so bad." Jaune said optimistically with a small smile.
"Well I guess we should get our gear ready for tomorrow." Ruby interrupted as she went to go get her weapon and ammo for the big mission.
"Yeah Ruby is probably right." Weiss added as she got up from the table followed by everyone else.

The next day

Every student had to meet outside near the loading station to be be sent out with their partner. It didn't take Jaune long to see Cardin so he sighed to himself and walked over to the large bruiser, hoping that he wouldn't cause too much trouble.
"Nice of you to finally show up Arc, I already got our assignment from Goodwitch." Cardin announced as he waved an envelope in his hand.
"Yeah sorry about that. What is our assignment anyway?" Jaune said as he looked around and saw other pairs getting similar envelopes.
"Well I waited for you to get here so let's find out." Cardin said as he tore the envelope open and pulled out a small map and a letter.
'Mr.Winchester and Mr.Arc, You two are to be dropped of by a Bullhead to the designated spot on your maps, once you are there you will be looking for a small pack of Ursa grimm in the area, there have been some sightings of them near the river a few miles north of your drop zone, and there will be two flares in the Bullhead for you. The red one is in case something goes wrong while the green is for your evac after completing the mission. Good luck.'
After the two had finished reading the letter they got inside the Bullhead and found the flares that it talked about.
"I'll be holding on to these Arc, you just worry about the Ursa alright." Cardin said as he pocketed the flares and sat down.
"Alright." Jaune replied plainly as he sat down far away from the window in hopes that it would help him not get motion sick.
The two sat in silence as they took off and while Jaune started to get queasy Cardin would snicker to himself as the blonde stumbled around for a bag in case he threw up.
"Hey Arc we'll be landing soon." Cardin called as he stood up and felt the landing gear hit the ground.
"Just a sec." Jaune said as he gathered his bearings and stood up trying not to get sick while the door opened and Cardin stepped out.
Cardin waited for a few seconds until Jaune walked over so they could start going to the river.
"Ok Arc it should only be a small pack of about five or six Ursa, so I was thinking we could just split up and each take on half of them." Cardin suggested as he continued to walk with Jaune following closely behind him.
"I think that it would probably be better if we worked together so we can watch out for each other." Jaune replied as they got close to the river.
"Come on Arc don't be such a pansy, if you want to prove that you actually belong here then think of this as a challenge." Cardin whispered as the two of them crouched down to avoid being seen.
Jaune was going to respond but his mouth was covered by Cardin's hand as he pointed toward the six Ursa that were walking out of the woods and toward the river.
"Ok get ready, I'll split them up and then we rush them." Cardin said as he pulled out his mace.
Jaune didn't have time to speak up as Cardin used his mace to create a wall of fire that separated the grimm.
"Arc now!" Cardin shouted as he ran forward toward the ones that were away from the river.
Jaune quickly drew Corcea Mors and got ready to fight the three Ursa that were closer to the river.
"Alright Jaune you can do this." He told himself to try and calm down before he would start to fight them.
It didn't take long for the Ursa to start charging at Jaune and when the first one made it close enough to swipe it's massive claw at him Jaune barely managed to block it and swing his sword horizontally across its neck, killing the beast instantly.
"Wow I did it, all that training is actually paying off." Jaune said happily as the other two Ursa backed off for a second.
Jaune knew that the other two were probably going to be more cautious now so he tightened his grip on his sword and prepared for the next attack.
One of the Ursa let out a loud roar and then they both charged at him.
Jaune was able to block one of their strikes but the other mangled to ram him in the side sending him falling into the river. Jaune could start to feel himself sinking as his armor pulled him down so he had to quickly undo the straps so he could swim back up, and as he surfaced he saw the two Ursa walking away as if they were satisfied with their 'kill'.
"Hey!" Jaune shouted as he stood up and ran at the two with his sword and shield raised.
As soon as the grimm turned around they could see Jaune leap into the air and bring his sword down on one of them, stabbing it in the head. The other then swung its paw at Jaune which his his shield but managed to throw him back several yards. As Jaune got back up covered in a few scratches the Ursa started to charge to try and ram Jaune, but as it got close he spun around it and sliced one of it's legs leaving a large gash.
"Here's my chance." Jaune told himself silently as he ran at the grimm with new found confidence as he got close he swung his sword down on the injured Ursa, cutting it down the middle.
Jaune couldn't believe it, he had killed three Ursa all on his own. He couldn't actually believe it but Cardin might've been right, this was the wake up call that he needed.
"Wait where is Cardin?" Jaune asked himself as he couldn't hear any fighting coming from the other side of the Flames which worried him a little.
But as soon as Jaune was about to call his name the flaming corpse of an Ursa was thrown threw the flames and hit Jaune, knocking him to the ground and making him drop his sword.
"Jeez Cardin watch what your doing." Jaune grunted as he moved the Ursa off of himself and stood up only to receive a hit from Cardin's mace to his ribs.
Jaune was curled up on the ground in pain as a slightly wounded Cardin walked up to him and stepped down on his chest.
"Well Arc I guess you can't expect mindless beasts to do dirty work for you." Cardin said in a rather sadistic voice as he put some pressure on Jaune's chest causing him a lot of pain.
"Why are you doing this?" Jaune barely managed to say as he could feel a couple of his ribs broken.
"Well Arc, it's pretty simple you shouldn't be a hunter and you know why? It's because your a weak spineless coward who cheated his way into Beacon just so he could pretend to be some big hero." Cardin answered harshly as he continued to crush Jaune's chest.
Cardin then removed his foot and just stood above him for a few seconds before speaking again.
"And you know what it was easy, all I needed was an opportunity and what do you know it I gat this one practically gift wrapped to me, but it's not like I didn't have to put in any effort to make this happen. You see after this whole exercise was announced I was able to sneak into Ozpin's office to make sure I was teamed up with you Jauney-boy and then the rest is history." Cardin mocked as he took Jaune's shield off him and threw it in the river.
Cardin then booted Jaune into the river as he was blacking out and the last thing he saw was Corcea Mors being thrown in and sinking to the bottom of the river as he drifted away.
Cardin then smirked as took out the red flare and started to run away from the river, and then after running a few miles away he set it off.
As the emergency crew showed up Cardin put on quite a show as he told them how he was separated from Jaune and could only find a scared battle ground near the river, and after hearing the story they took him into the Bulkhead and flew off.
