Math and Relationships

Never did I expect,
That math could signify,
What we couldn't quantify,
And what we didn't protect.

I used to look up to you,
Thinking we could be friends, too,
We had so much in common,
Didn't think we'd end in oblivion.

Along the way fate took over,
Though we had much to discover,
We really didn't know who to blame,
But our efforts ended up in vain.

And just like intersecting lines,
Which meet only once,
We didn't take that chance,
And got beat by the deadline.
