Scarlet's P.O.V.
"Gerard, we have a daughter." I said letting a stray tear fall down my cheek. I had finally said it, it was one of the two biggest secrets of my life and I had finally said it.
I was free.
Gerard let go of my hand and pulled up at one side of the road so harshly that it almost made me hit my head with the car window, his eyes were wide and his breathing heavy. Well, nothing in life has prepared me for this and, if I'm honest, I'm truly scared of what he can do.
"A-a daughter?" He stuttered while staring at me in horror. I sighed and rested my hand above his reassuringly, this was for the best.
"Y-yes, Gee, a perfectly healthy, beautiful, bright one year old daughter named Hollie Ann Way." I smiled at him and sniffed a bit, thinking about my beautiful baby girl.
"I...am a father?" He said more to himself than to me, but I completely understood him, I would have reacted like that too.
"Yes, Gee, you're a father." I remained as calm as I could, for his sake and my own. I picked my bag from the car's dirty floor and rummaged through it, shortly after I found my phone buried in a sea of things, sometimes I wonder how I manage to fit half of the house in there.
"Here, look." I handed him my phone with a recent photo of our perfect little baby on the lock screen. She had just turned one last month, but you could already tell that she looked like her father. She had short raven black hair, which I loved to tie up in two little ribbons, a pair of the most beautiful hazel eyes with long eyelashes that could tell me everything she wanted me to know by just staring at them. She had totally inherited that from her father, though her emotions showed more easily; it was the same look. She also had his little pointy nose, but the rest of her features were just like mine; including the paleness of her soft skin. I love that little girl more than anything in this earth... Well, besides Gerard.
He took the phone in his slightly shaky hands and frowned, but then smiled. "S-she's beautiful, she's perfect." He said as he traced the screen with his fingers, oh God I was so relieved!
"She truly is. I took that one on her birthday, last month. I-I have some more at home..." I sighed sadly, I missed her so much.
Suddenly, Gerard's face dropped, worry written all over it. "But... where is she? Oh God, is she okay?" He panicked.
"Calm down! Yes, she's okay. She's at my sister's, I left her with her for the weekend and I was going to pick her up tomorrow..." I said placing my phone back in my bag.
There was a short but awkward silence as he frowned and stared deeply outside the widow. "I-I think we should go." he sighed, getting back on the road.
The rest of the ride was silent, none of us had said a single word; just heavy sighs and some Elvis song barely playing on the old car radio. The mood was quiet and awkward, he was very distant and cold, just like at my house...and just when I thought we were progressing.
