Chapter Five

Leroy didn't sleep that night. He instead stayed up, drinking a few more cans of foster. He didn't want to think about Carol, or the accident, or the day his mum left him and his father.

He didn't want to have the same nightmares, which haunted him in the night.

He had felt relieved when the dark sky became lighter and transformed to a pinky dawn sky.

He waited tell it was early in the morning and the pink turned to a purple and then blue.

When he left his room Leroy discovered it was eight-thirty in the morning and he noticed the car and his dad were gone, which meant his dad had left already and was heading to Lincoln town, searching for an B&Q store.

Leroy sat on the sofa in the living room. It was too early to go outside, but Leroy was desperate to do something to occupy his mind. He turned the tv on and flicked through the channels, but nothing jumped out at him. He sighed in defeat and placed his hands in his head, as the memories Of his mother leaving came back to him.

(Flash back)

He was sitting on the hallway floor, peering down the stairs and into the living room, which was were he could hear his parents arguing.

It sounded like his mother couldn't stand being in this house anymore, as she was bored and felt like a prisoner. She was fed up of her husband who acted like a child, so in a way it was like she had two kids, but she had finally had enough and was leaving.

Leroy had been shocked to see his mum appear carrying two suitcases.

Where was she going?

She saw Leroy and he could see her face turn pale and freeze in an expression of shock, embarrassment and sorrow, as her eyes began to fill with tears and spilled down her face. She turned away from him and raced to the front door, unlocked it and opened it and closed it behind her.

"No! Mummy! Don't go!" Leroy had cried, as he ran down the stairs and opened the front door.

It was dark outside and he saw his mum in her car reversing out of the driveway. He ran towards the car, screaming and crying.

But she sped off down the road and was out of his sight. Leroy had collapsed onto the ground, tears spilling down his face and buried his head into his arms.

His mum was gone. When would she come back? Was he ever going to see her beautiful face, with her big blue eyes, which were like staring up at the sky on a summer day? Was he ever again going to feel her golden hair brush his face when she hugged him or gave him a kiss for being a good boy? Leroy continued to cry, as he felt his seven year old heart break in his chest.

Unaware Leroy didn't notice his dad come outside, pick him up and take him inside. He sat with Leroy and comforted his son, stroking his soft blonde hair and drying his eyes and face. Leroy noticed that his dad hadn't shed one tear, but his dad didn't know what to do, as he was in a numbed state.

(end flash back)

Leroy was gritting his teeth, fighting to keep the tears away, but they started to spill down his face. His throat felt tight and he choked on a sob.

He gripped his hair through his fingers, trying to control his emotions. He couldn't think about the other memory to his dark and tragic past. He couldn't recall the last memories with Coral. He would go insane! He sighed painfully, as his heart was hurting and made him breathless, as he had to breathe harshly to force oxygen into his lungs. The emotions were getting to be too much to bear, so Leroy let his anger out.
