Chapter Four

Two weeks had passed and I was still in the hospital for a few fractured bones and a slight concussion, Rob never left the hospital he was always there beside me. I never ate and neither did he, I began to feel better; the doctor had said my bones were almost healed and I could check out later this afternoon. Rob watched me and smiled he then said, “You know you are not going home right?” I watched him very confused and then responded, “What do you mean? Where am I to go?” he kept on smiling and said, “I asked Carmen and Dylan if you can live with us from now on and they said yes?” My facial expressions changed completely and I became speechless I then took a deep breath and said, “I can’t! I want to go back home. My mom should be coming home tomorrow and she knows nothing about this so I wanna be there when she gets in.” “But how are you going to act normal when you are clearly in pain?” he asked worried. I asked myself that question over and over again, I knew when she came home she will want to hug me and all that and I would not be able to do that without screaming. I watched him and a smile appeared on his face and asked, “Are you sure you can handle it?” I shook my head and then said, “Yea I just have to make sure and keep some distance between us and everything will be fine. I can handle it I promise.” He then bent over to kiss me but I exhaled sharply and he then did not bother with the kiss I said, “You didn’t have to pull away, I think I can handle it,” he then smiled and said, “Don’t worry you’ll get your kiss when the time is right ,” “So how long do I have to wait?” He leaned back in the chair with a smile on his face and said, “When the time is right don’t worry I just want to sort out a few more things and then we will see how things go, which obviously will be great.” I then sunk back down in the bed and was trying to drift back to sleep but the doctor then came in the room and gave Rob the discharge papers to sign but Rob asked him, “Isn’t a relative supposed to sign these papers?” the doctor then asked, “But aren’t you her husband?” I then sat up so fast that I got a whip lash he then watched me and smiled then replied, “No not yet!” I looked at him in total amazement and he had this huge smile on his face and it showed in his bright grey eyes, the doctor then gave Rob the discharge papers to sign. When the doctor then exited the room Rob watched me like he was waiting for me to say something but I kept on watching him waiting for him to say something he then said, “So what do you have to say about that?” I then began to smile and replied, “So are you really serious about the statement you just made?” He looked at me with smiling eyes and said, “Someday I will make my dream come true but you will just have to be patient with me. Okay?” I shook my head in agreement and he then began to pack my bags for us to leave. As I was about to stand he ran to my side and lifted me off the ground I was thankful but I knew I was strong enough so I told him, “Hey you know I’m strong enough right?” “I know I just wanted to make sure,” he replied kissing me lightly on my forehead. I was then placed safely back on the floor, I then looked up at Rob and he leaned down and kissed me, we then was interrupted by some who cleared their throat by the door. When I spun around it was Carmen and Dylan they both asked at the same time, “Are we disturbing something?” Rob then wrapped his arms around my waste and said, “Don’t worry mom we have not done anything.” I looked up at him and began to smile because it was like he was teasing Carmen by calling her “Mom.” Rob then began to laugh non-stop, “What is it?” I asked. “Nothing just a wild thought,” Rob replied quickly. I looked at him with utter anger in my eyes. “Okay then, we will be in the car so we can give you two some privacy,” Dylan then said before he backed out of the room with his arms wrapped around Carmen. “You need to stop lying to me!” I said as I slapped Robert’s hand from my waist and walked back to the bed, “You really need to start telling me the truth or this what we have going on here is OVER and I meant it!” I kept on arguing. As I watched Robert his facial expressions it looked as if he was distracted and not listening to me, “HELLO! Are you even listening to me?” I asked snapping my fingers in front of his face. He simply nodded. What was his problem? He could have just told me what was going on, not like he was some serial killer and he was on the run. I needed to do some serious FBI work to find out what he was keeping from me. He was still staring of into space, “WHAT?” I asked waiting for him to come back to reality. “Nothing, I’m just trying to….. Never mind I was just thinking.” He said as he let out a sigh. “Exactly, exactly, that is my point right here, you don’t tell me anything. Why are you keeping all these secrets from me?” I shouted, I was sure the entire hospital heard me. “Look Elizabeth this is not the time and place to tell you but I’m not your average seventeen year old, I can do things. That’s all I want to tell you. When we get out of here I promise I’ll tell you everything you want to know” He said softly and then he walked and wrapped his arms around me. I tried to pull away because when he touched me it still hurt a lot. As I spun around to be face to face with him, I kept trying to pull away but Robert was to strong and my attempts were futile. Rob then leaned in and his lips then met mine, it felt like heaven. As he was about to run his hands down my legs we were interrupted by someone who again cleared their throat. I knew it either had to be either Carmen or Dylan again. My eyes were on the ground and Robert’s arms were wrapped around my waist. I then raised my eyes from the ground and there she was, I felt my jaw drop. “Mom you’re back!” I said with complete fear in my voice. I then felt Robert stiffen by my side and he dropped his arms instantly. It was as if he had seen a ghost.
