Cooler than me (Patrick Stump)

Walking by the other groups of kids in the school Patrick took a special interest in the head cheerleader. She just looked so beautiful, Patrick thought. He had talked to her on a few occasions, it was to only say 'sorry' for bumping into her or 'hi' when she was paired up with him for a class project, to his dismay all she did was do the entire project herself without a single word to him. For the past three years he's been working up the courage to talk to her, though, it's hard to talk to someone when all the people that hang out with them beat you up every day.

She'd helped him out a few times, when she was around, that is. When she wasn't around he just had to suffer through the torture. They would always tease him about his crush on her, they were merciless heathens. Patrick was working on practicing a song to sing her during the talent show. He wasn't anywhere near a perfect singer-that's what he thought-but he'd try his best. All he wanted was to tell her how he really felt.

The only problem with his plan was that he didn't know if she was actually going to be at the talent show or not. Another problem he would face is the fact that, even if she was there, she probably wouldn't pay attention to him, they're from two completely different worlds. There was almost no chance that she would ever know how he felt. Though, he didn't care, if he could get at least one person to understand his feelings, he would be happy.

Patrick walked slowly through the halls, trying to avoid everyone and get to class without any problems. But, of course he had no such luck, his books were knocked out of his hands and he was pushed into the lockers to his right. He watched as the group of douches started to form a circle around him, laughing maniacally. He sighed, he hoped that all they would do is shove him into a locker, and leave him there.

They started to yell  at him, insult him, and tease him about whatever they could think of, even if it wasn't true. Patrick just endured the torture, he just wanted it all to be over. After about five minutes, they finally just shoved him into a locker and left. The warning bell signaling tardiness had already rung and he wasn't planning on showing up to first hour today. He was in there until a little bit into lunch when someone started on the combination of the lock. It opened revealing his rescuer, the head cheerleader.

"Are you okay?" She asked. At least she was talking to him, that's a start.

"Yeah, fine, thanks" Patrick responded. She gave him a curious look, taking in his appearance.

"What's your name?" Why did she want to know? Nontheless she wanted to know, and he would do anything for her.

"Patrick" He responded weakly, with a shaky voice. She nodded giving him a small smile before responding.

"I'm Alex" She responded, extending her hand for him to shake. He knew that, though. He shook her hand offering a friendly smile. They each gave the other a small nod before parting ways. Patrick was so happy, he was ecstatic, she knew his name know. The next step in the plan was to talk to her as often as possible. That would prove to be one of the harder steps of the plan, considering that her "posse" was always around, never leaving her alone for even a second.

Patrick was determined, though, he needed to tell her how he really felt, even if that meant that he would have to be tortured everyday.

"Hey, Pat, you okay, you've been kind of...out of it?" Patrick's good friend, Pete, questioned. He blinked a few times snapping himself out of his thoughts. He gave his friend a small nod, mumbling a 'yeah', before going back to thinking about his plan. He was super nervous about the whole thing but he was prepared for the talent show. That was a good thing, too, it was this Friday during school.

It was Friday and Patrick was up next, he was about to pass out. He was so nervous, he'd seen her walk into the auditorium with her "posse" just a few minutes ago. The rest of the people around her looked as if they really didn't want to be there, but she looked excited, why? He didn't know, all he knew was that the group before him were almost done, and he was up next. He was about to confess his feelings for this girl who barely knew anything about him, but, fu.ck it, he was going to do it, even if it meant he were to humiliate himself.

The act before Patrick had just finished, fu.ck. The hosts of the show went about using the next two minutes making jokes about random things, he was grateful for that, though, he was so nervous, like about to sh.it himself nervous. Then they called his name, he nervously walked out, standing in front of the mic. With shaky hands he adjusted the mic, Then he spoke up.

"Umm...t-this songs f-for a girl, um, I like her, like a-a lot, and yeah" He stuttered out. He scanned the crowed, until he locked eyes with Alex, she gave him an encouraging smile and that's when he started singing.

Wise men say

Only fools rush in

But I can't help falling in love with you

Shall I stay

Would it be a sin

If I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows

Surely to the sea

Darling so it goes

Some things are meant to be

Take my hand,

Take my whole life too

For I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows

Surely to the sea

Darling so it goes

Some things are meant to be

Take my hand,

Take my whole life too

For I can't help falling in love with you

For I can't help falling in love with you

After he finished singing he spoke again, gaining a sudden bout of confidence.

"That was for Alex, and, yeah, talk to me" He said stepping off the stage.
