In the morning, my heads throbbing and I'm feeling completely awful and exhausted, but otherwise in pretty good health all things considering. Surprisingly my first instinct isn't to puke my guts up when I finally drag my body weight up off of the bed and sit up straight. After a good half hour of mental preparation and pep talking to myself I finally stood up and began getting ready for the day. Mid way through my daily makeup routine my phone, which sat face down on my vanity, began vibrating. Picking it up and flipping it over a number I didn't recognized covered the screen. I looked at it cautiously for a second before answering it.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey, it's Derek," he replied, "from last night." He continued when I didn't reply right away. My head spun trying to recall the events from last night and as bits and pieces flashed through I tried desperately to connect them in some way. In the couple moments, that seemed like an eternity on the phone with us both completely silent, it hit me. Last night came back in rush and I remembered the way Derek's lips felt against my neck, how his rough hand caressed my cheek gingerly, and everything that followed. I longed for those feelings and all the others attached with Derek and finally spoke up before the silence I'd created gotten any more awkward.

"Oh yeah, Derek! Sorry my head's a little fuzzy on last night, but I definitely remember you." I said, attempting to be seductive but failing miserably. He chuckled nonetheless.

"I feel you, but I've actually called to ask you something." He said, a hint of shyness evident in his tone.

"Oh did you now? And what might that be?" I asked grinning despite myself.

"Well, I was wondering if you'd like to go out on a date with me tonight. I can come and pick you up at eight?" He suggested.

"Absolutely." I replied instantly.

"Great," he said relieved, "I'll see you then."

"Bye." I said quietly, hanging up. Once the initial butterflies went through my system I paced back and forth in my room for a little while debating what outfit I should wear, how I should do my hair and if I should add more makeup. Taking a quick glance at the clock I realized it was about three thirty and being the typical teenage girl I was, I should probably start getting ready for tonight already. Taking a shower was the first step, at first I wasn't sure if I did last night but after getting a whiff of the leftover booze that clung to my clothes I knew I definitely hadn't. Walking down the hall with a towel in my hand I realized Alec's room was a lot quieter than normal. Maybe he wasn't even home? I wasn't going to dwell on it and walked briskly passed his door and went into the bathroom, locking it behind me and flicking on the light switch. I let the water run and twisted the knob to get it hotter then stripped my clothes. It was really relaxing to just stand there, get my business done, and let my mind clear itself. It was short-lived, and once I got out I heard my brother and Alec yelling loudly from the living room with whatever football game was on today on the TV. My headache returned as if on cue and I sighed, slipping back into my room. I didn't know whether I should dress it up and go with some kind of form fitting dress and heels or a little down with some jeans and a sweater, but the idea of walking around in heels all night and having my feet be practically dead by the end of the night made the decision for me. I pulled a pair of black skinny jeans from a pile tucked in the back of my closet and chose a maroon oversized sweater to go with it. Grabbing my Adidas superstars from their designated place in my closet I then put some socks on and laced those up. All that was let was hair and makeup. About an hour later my hair was sufficiently straightened and my makeup consisting of highlighter, winged eyeliner and a deep red lip stick which I stuck in my purse after applying, was finished. Just in time. Slinging my little black purse over my shoulder and picking my phone up off of the charger I saw a text notification from Derek.

I'm here. It read. I quickly took one last glance in the mirror and then headed out. I heard the doorbell ring and cringed inwardly. I didn't realize he'd want to come in, where my brother and Alec would also be. Oh God. I tried to race toward the door, but Alec beat me to it. From behind I noticed he was trying to stand taller and had his shoulders back, clearly intimidated, but trying to act otherwise.

"Who are you?" He asked gruffly.

"Derek, and you?" Derek replied politely.

"Alec. What are you doing here?" He continued questioning.

"I have a date with Delaney..." Derek trailed off, beginning to get uncomfortable with the constant hounding.

"Oh really now?" Alec asked in a condescending tone. I decided to break it up at this point and came to Derek's rescue.

"Really Alec, what's with the third degree?" I asked, eyeing him.

"I don't know what you're talking about." He blatantly lied.

"Yeah, okay. I'm going to go, so, bye." I said, looking back at him as I pushed Derek out the door with me.

"Don't do anything stupid!" Alec called out as we were walking down the lawn, "Don't get pregnant! Or do any drugs!" I got into Derek's car with Alec's weird ass warnings stuck in my head. What was his problem? He was acting more like my brother or something than Blaze was. What was he trying to do?

"That guy was weird." Derek commented as we started driving down the road.

"Tell me about it." I replied.
