After many hours of scrambling around the mall from store to store only stopping for a brief time to sit down and eat some Thai food, Hayden finally found a dress she deemed suitable. It was black, revealing, and completely her. Relieved to finally be done with this strenuous trip, of which she continued to hassle me about Alec for the majority of the time, I walked through the front door of the house and set my keys down before listening to see if anyone else was home. It was quiet as far as I could tell, but I couldn't be sure I was alone just yet. It was only about eight, so probably too early for anyone to be sleeping. Thirst taking over I decided to head into the kitchen to get a soda. I stopped dead in my tracks at the entryway when I noticed some short, skinny little thing in an oversized t-shirt struggling to reach a higher shelf where the cups were located. I cleared my throat and she spun around quickly, startled.
"Oh," she said in a little mouse voice that irritated me, "I was just getting some water." she explained. She hurriedly filled the cup she finally reached and brushed past me heading back down to the hall to, what I assumed would be, Alec's room. I sighed and rubbed my temple to stop, with no avail, what I knew would be an incoming migraine from coming. It'd only been one full day since Alec's arrival and I was already getting sick of him. I walked over to the refrigerator, opened it, bent down and grabbed a can of Pepsi, before shutting it and going back to my room. My assumptions turned to be true when I heard unpleasant and rather inappropriate noises build up loudly through the wall. Not allowing myself to deal with such indecency, and knowing i needed to get some sleep because sadly I had to go back to school tomorrow I cracked up my speaker playing shuffle from my phone's music library loud enough to drown out the noise and stuffed two earplugs into my ears. Changing into a pair of cotton pajama shorts and a tank top I then flicked the light switch off and slid into my bundle of blankets. Once I was satisfied with how comfy my position was I let myself drift off into a peaceful slumber, pretending I was completely unaware of the sinful acts going on right next to me.

In the morning, 6am came rolling around and i was greeted with the wonderful sounds of my alarm going off to wake up to. Waking up early had never been my forte, so I groaned outwardly as I threw the blanket off my body and rolled out of bed. Once searching through my closet and picking out a reasonable outfit, I quickly changed into it still half asleep and struggling not to topple over into the ground from loss of balance as I wriggled into these skinny jeans. After applying some half assed makeup and running my fingers through my hair I deemed myself good enough to leave. Running slightly late I rushed to grab my keys, and phone and went out the door in one swift motion, not even checking to see if either of the boys were still home. I got into my first period class, English, just as the bell rang. I stopped at the door to realize there was a new seating chart, great, and scanned over it trying to find my name. When my eyes finally spotted it, they also spotted the person I was seated next to and I had to do a double take to make sure I was reading correctly. I looked across the classroom and lo and behold there he was, eyes glued on me. After debating whether just leaving the class without an explanation was a good idea I eventually decided against it and toughed it up and went to my seat. I sat down and dropped my bag on the ground next to me, then turned my attention straight ahead at the board, waiting for the teacher to start today's lesson.
"You're just going to ignore me?" Alec asked from beside me. I didn't respond.
"Delaney, come on," he complained, "you can't keep this up forever." I scoffed.
"Watch me." I replied. Once the teacher started talking, going on about the Great Gatsby or some other classic we were about to get into that I could care less about, that didn't stop Alec's incessant bugging.
"Delaney, Delaney, Delaney, Delaney," He repeated over and over. Looking around I couldn't help but notice all of the glares being sent my way by all the pretty, stuck up girls spread throughout the room that were all dying for Alec's attention and obviously jealous of the fact that I was getting it. If only we could trade places, I'd sure as hell be glad to be any single one of them instead of myself in this moment. Alec then began poking my shoulder constantly, adding on to the name calling, literally, and the combo was slowly driving me insane. Eventually, I could;t take it anymore.
"WHAT?" I exclaimed, perhaps just a little too loud for the current environment. My teacher cleared her throat.
"Delaney, is there something you'd like to share with the entire class?" She asked. I shot a death glare Alec's way and then looked up at her.
"No Mrs. Miller, I'm sorry. It won't happen again." I apologized.
"Let's hope so." She replied before continuing on with her lesson. A few minutes of silence pass, and then "Delaney." I twist my head abruptly and give Alec my full attention.
"What do you want, Alec?" I asked exasperatedly.
"Hi." He said simply.
"I hate you." I replied.
"No, you don't." He countered.
"Um, yes I do?" I said.
"No, I don't think so." He insisted. I was prepared to argue further, but lucky me I was saved by the bell. That class went by fast. Well, not really, with Alec it felt like an eternity. Alec grabbed his things quickly and made like he was going to leave, but stopped and blew me a kiss teasingly first to which I shuddered slightly. After he was gone I went up to the front where my teacher was sat at her desk, on her desktop computer.

"Mrs. Miller, I had a question about the seating arrangement." I said. She looked up at me with a bored expression.

"Oh yes, and what might that be?" She asked.

"Well, I have an issue with who I'm sat next to, Alec Bradshaw, and I was just wondering if I could be placed somewhere, anywhere, else." I asked as politely as I could.

"Seating arrangements are final. No exceptions." She said as she typed away at her computer, not giving me any attention anymore as she realized my issue was meaningless to her.

"But, Mrs. Miller-"I started.

"No. Exceptions." She said with finality. I slumped my shoulders in defeat and left without another word. I shouldn't really have expected so much, she was the meanest teacher on campus and made sure everyone knew such. I pushed past the dwindling crowd of students slowly making their way off campus, or lingering around throughout the halls, and left the campus myself heading toward my car in the student parking lot. Once I approached it I was shocked, at the very least, to see a certain asshole lounging in the front seat of my car, grinning at me and I stared, utterly shocked and confused.
