// ALEC'S POV //

Once things were settled and good with Blaze, which made me extremely relieved because he was seriously starting to intimidate me, the only obstacle we had left to face was school. Tomorrow was going to be our first official day as a couple at school and I was oddly nervous. I know how shitty the kids at my school can be and I don't know if I was prepared for the potential backlash to come. Anyway, dealing with it was inevitable, so best not to stress too much and just get a good night's sleep. I knocked on Delaney's door, like the polite gentleman I am, before pushing it open and stepping inside. She lay on her chest sprawled out across her bed, scrolling on her laptop. She acknowledged me entering and then shut it and set it on the floor next to her. It's been at least a couple of days since the elbowing to the face incident, and I'm pretty confident to say Delaney's pretty much gotten used to my presence in her bed and doesn't have the urge to fly her arms towards my face anymore. Which is good news, since I enjoy my face and the wellbeing of it.

"Hey." She greeted sleepily. Awe, she always sounds so cute when she's tired.

"Hey baby." I replied, walking over to her and taking a seat on the edge of her bed.

"Ready to sleep?" She asked, looking to me with droopy eyes. I chuckled.

"Definitely." I said as I leaned over and kissed her forehead before standing back up to turn the light out. Once it went pitch black in the room I carefully stepped my way back to the bed, making sure not to trip over any of the shit she's got lying around on her floor. Slipping under the covers and cuddling up against Delaney, there was nothing but the sounds of our slowed breathing filling the room as we drifted off to sleep. In the morning, Delaney's alarm didn't go off under 6:45am, when we needed to leave at 7:05am and my eyes sprung open dramatically when I realized how little time we had to get ready.

"What's your deal?" Delaney asked sleepily, wiping her eyes with the backs of her hands.

"Why did you're alarm go off so late? I usually wake up at like 6:15am?" I asked as I wriggled into my skinny jeans struggling not to fall over due to lack of balance.

"Because I like to sleep?" She replied with another question, like it was obvious.

"Oh my God, get up." I said, attempting to pull the cover she had secured tightly around her body off of her. She didn't budge, but after a moment sighed dramatically and threw it off herself before slowly sitting up, a loud groan escaping her lips. She stretched her arms widely and yawned before standing completely and walking almost zombie-like toward her closet. I watched in amazement as she managed to get dressed and do her hair and makeup to practically perfection in less than 20 minutes. In that same amount of time I'd only managed to finally get my jeans on, throw a t-shirt over my bare mid drift, get some socks on, and then lace up my shoes. I was nowhere near as put together as she was as I grabbed my go to leather jacket and fit my arms into the sleeves, which Delaney wore dark wash ripped jeans, lace up heeled boots, and a white crop top while she was currently putting her arming through the sleeves of her zip up Nike jacket. She's so fucking beautiful, I don't know how I got so lucky.

"How'd you do that?" I asked in amazement.

"Skill." She replied shortly, winking at me and chuckling before looping her arm through mine and leading me out of the room, "let's get going, shall we?"

Once we got to school I braced myself for the reaction that was soon to come. Taking a deep breath, I pushed the front double doors of the school open and led Delaney through the halls, her hand interlaced in mine. It felt like everyone's heads turned our way and I could hear hushed whisperings as we walked by groups of kids, but I tried not to let it bother me. I stole a glance at Delaney and it looked like she was trying to do the same. But after a moment of both of us acting like we didn't care and didn't hear what they were saying she must have had a fuck it moment, because she stopped walking which caused me to stop as well and then she gripped my shirt and pulled me to her, kissing my lips with such ferocity and intensity. I responded almost instantly and suddenly we were making out in the middle of the hall for any and every one to see and we couldn't give a damn. We broke apart when the bell rang, which got everyone else out of their dazes as well and soon everybody scattered off into different directions toward their respectable classes. I walked Delaney to class, grinning like an idiot from ear to ear and unable to keep my eyes off of her. Once lunchtime rolled around, Delaney told me she wanted me to hang out with her best friend Hayden and her boyfriend Rowan. I'd seen Hayden around at the house hanging with Delaney, but not since we became an actual thing and for some reason getting her best friend's approval scared me almost as much as her brother's. Nonetheless, I agreed to hang out with them and found my heartbeat quicken as we entered the lunchroom and made our way over to their usual table. Taking a seat next to Delaney she formally introduces me to her friends.

"Guys, this is Alec, my boyfriend." She gestures toward me and then towards then and I nearly melt at the word my boyfriend. I smile awkwardly and do a little wave that I regret immediately after I set my hand back down in my lap.

"Alec, huh? What makes you think you're good enough for my best friend?" Hayden questions, eyeing me and leaning forward seriously.

"Well, honestly I don't think I'm good enough for her. She's way beyond what I deserve and I don't know how I got lucky enough to have her in my life." I answered shyly. I could see blush creep onto Delaney's cheeks and I smiled.

"Good answer, I'm impressed," Hayden paused as if contemplating something, "anything to add, Rowan?" She asked turning to the boy sitting next to her with his arm slung across her shoulder.

"No, I'm good for now. He's cool." He commented his approval. Well, that was easier than I expected. Delaney leaned toward me and whispered in my ear, "You weren't nervous, were you?" She pulled back and giggled at my expression and shoulder shrug.

"You've got my approval, so don't fuck it up." Hayden warned before smiling and holding her hand out toward me in a semiprofessional manor. I nodded firmly and shook her hand in agreement. Once all the formalities were out of the way everyone noticeably relaxed and let loose and we just hung out, ate, and talked the rest of the lunch period. Once the bell rang we then split off in different directions toward our 5th period classes.

The last two periods of the day seemed to drag on forever and the final bell couldn't have come fast enough. I was out of the room the instant it went off and relieved to be finished with yet another day of hell. I was excited for what I had planned for today. I needed to find Delaney. As I suspected, she was walking toward her car in the student lot and I met her there, coming up behind her and surprising her as she fumbled with her keys. They flew into the air and then hit the concrete. I leaned down quickly and scooped them up, twisting the lanyard in my fingers and looking at her with a smirk on my face.

"That's not funny, you really scared me." She complained, frowning.

"Aw baby, it's okay." I cooed. She reached out for her keys, but I held them out of reach.

"What are you doing? Give me my keys." She demanded. I just stood there and shook my head.

"I'm taking you somewhere." I said, hitting the unlock button and walking around to the drivers' side and opening the door sliding into the seat. She reluctantly got into the passenger seat after a failed couple moments of standing there pouting.

"Okay, fine. Where are you taking me?" She asked, giving in.

"Well that, sweetheart," I replied still smirking as I stuck the key into the ignition and starting the car up, "is a surprise."
