"So Ms Fearless, let me ask you a question... Are you a virgin?" Neo says, assumingly with a smirk on his face.
My eyes widen in shock before a mischievous smirk slowly spreads over my face.
"Well actually..." I say trailing off slowly, "There was this one robot guy..." I hear a choking sound over the loud speaker and I can practically see Neo spraying coffee all over the console. My smirk widens and I continue.
"Yeah, well it got a little lonely after a while so I decided to try-"
"Stop! Stop ok, that is disgusting Luna. I cannot believe that you would actually shack it up with one of those filthy robots, even if they have metal dic-" Neo was cut off by my hysterical laughing.
"Oh gross Neo! No absolutely not! I was just kidding you asshole!" I choke out, still finding the whole situation hilarious. "Like I would try and sleep with one of the creatures that did this to me you idiot! I was just saying that to freak you out!" I say, sobering up now.
"Well... yeah... good! Cause that is totally-" Neo begins to say before I hear the loud speaker being cut off abruptly.
"Neo? What's going on?" I say, curious. There was an extended pause before I hear the loud speaker turn on.
"Lu-uhh... I mean Robot. You have some visitors." I hear Neo say tonelessly. "Brace yourself." He says quietly, as if he is scared of what is about to happen. I raise my eyebrow, sensing that whoever is about to enter my cell is either highly important or someone Neo wants to impress. I only have to wait another second before the door to my cell slides open. My eyes widen at the people who walk in as I stand there, shocked. It was him.
It was Dane. He looked just as handsome, if not more, than I remember. His brown hair was still messy and unkept. His figure still lean but muscular. His eyes still the same amber brown that could still melt my stupid heart. But his eyes were a little different than before I was captured. Now they're hard, emotionless. I shake off my surprise and really look at him. His face, though more defined, was more war torn. It was dirtier, it had more scars, and it looked as though he had gone through hell. Just a different part of it than me. It felt like we had been staring at each other for hours before he moved. He moved into my cell and then I saw who was behind him, and I realised why Neo had been so nervous. It was my old platoon. The last one I ever had and the only people whom I had ever trusted my life with. Following Dane was Rosie, a girl whose name did not match her appearance at all, with dark hair and dark eyes. My eyes widened and I know she noticed as I saw her hand, or lack thereof. She looked cautious towards me and my reaction. I had no time to get over my shock however, as Marlow, the toughest guy whom I had ever met, but also the sweetest, entered. I had considered him as an older brother to me, once. But with the way he was looking at me, I don't know if he felt the same way. The next person made my heart leap with relief. Twix limped through the doors of my cell, on crutches and beaten up but still the Twix whom I had managed to save. My heart both sunk and soared at the next person who entered and I started shaking. It was my best friend, Sapphire. She was still as gorgeous as she had always been with her flowing blonde hair, but I could see a new resilience and determination in her, ironically, dark blue eyes that I had never seen before. I expected only one more person to walk through those doors but he didn't. My brows scrunched in confusion before my eyes widened in anger as the girl who shot my leg walked in through the door. My hands fisted automatically, preparing for a fight, but I stopped as my old platoon tensed as moved towards their guns that I had only just noticed that they were carrying. I forced myself to relax, and attempted to appear as non-threatening and as human as I could possibly be, given my circumstances.
They stood in a line in front of me, as though they had practiced it. I carefully scanned each of their gazes, acknowledging that they were very wary of me and were still likely to attack me despite my old place among them. The girl who shot me looked furious but also smug, making me narrow my eyes but I moved on. Saph looked unsure and fearful. Twix looked curious but wary. Marlow looked determined. Dane... I had saved him for last because I knew that whatever I would see in his eyes would hurt the most. I had survived off of my memories of our good times together and my hope that we would one day be together, despite its unlikeliness. So despite it being 3 years since I had seen him last, I knew that whatever anger this man held would influence me greatly. Which was why it broke my heart to see nothing in his eyes. Nothing. No recognition, no hope, not even anger. Just nothing. I knew better than anyone that that was the most dangerous state that anyone could be in.
