Book Two: Chapter One

Welcome to Communitown. A humble little place that offers food, water, protection, and shelter. So long as you obey the rules, you'll be allowed to stay. Humans and Mutants alike.

We also offer training for superpowers. We call our training facility 'Academy of Heroes.'

The Headmaster is a man you all know. Justin Williams. He is also the mayor of the town. Yuuki is the Sheriff. Borko is the town's builder/tinkerer.Courtney, Crystal, Iris, Mel, and Dilmi are teachers of the academy.

For three years, this little town has been living in peace. But all that is going to change.

Justin's POV

"Good morning class."I announced.

"Good morning, Headmaster Williams." The students replied in unison.

I cleared my throat, and continued

"As you all know, summer break is going to be here soon."

The children chattered excitedly amongst one another.

"But, before that time comes, you must pass our exam."

Most of the students groaned.

"Now, I know most of you don't like exams. But you are required to do this, in order to graduate." I walked in front of Courtney's desk.

"As you know, the exams are very dangerous. So, as a precaution, we decided to change it up a bit." I looked over to Courtney. She nodded, and pressed a button.

An image of the Examination Area appeared in a hologram.

"You'll start off here." I pointed towards the centre pelf the hologram. "Remember, you'll have to survive for three days in here. If you make it out alive, you pass. If you don't survive.... Well, you get the picture."

Most of them froze, while some of their faces went blue. Some had faces of determination. While others were surprised.

One raised her hand.

"Yes?" I asked, pointing her out.

"Did you and the other staff take this test?" I shook my head. "No. The staff and I have already proven ourselves in real battles. Right, Courtney?"

She nodded, and said "Yeah. It was pretty brutal." The door was opened, with Borko standing there, smirking.

"You're telling me! I still have the scars to prove it!" He removed his shirt, showing a large scar on his chest. "See?"

I noticed that Courtney was flushed with embarrassment. "Borko!!" She exclaimed, waving her arms around.

"What now, Courtney?" He asked, sounding slightly annoyed.

"You're not supposed to do that in places like this!" She cried, still flushed.

"Ahh, give me a break!" Borko said, as he left the room.

"Wait!" Courtney called after him. She stopped at the door, before turning to look at me. She hesitant, before she asked me "May I be excused?"

I nodded, and held the door open for her. She ran out, chasing after Borko.

After she left, I noticed that a few of the female students were swooning.

"I wish guys were more like you."

"A gentleman."

"Kind."

I chuckled, and said "Look, I appreciate the comments. But.." I lifted my right hand, showing them my ring.

"I'm married." A few sighed, and a few kept making that goo-goo eye face.

"You are dismissed."
