"ONE HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS?!"

Alexia's eyes widened in surprise as she fumbled with her phone, nearly dropping it.

"Can you believe that those are the cheapest tickets?

Alexia could hear screaming on the other side of the phone.

"I barely even have fifty dollars!" her hands were flailing in the air.

She was on the phone with her best friend Mia, they were conversing about The Little Wallflowers who will be coming to California.

"What? Did you buy a beach? You have to find a way to attend the concert or I'm personally going to kill you."

"I'm sorry! I couldn't help myself, How could I say no to Tom?"

The second I said his name, the memories came flooding in. Memories of us taking slow walks in the park, memories of me laying my head down on his shoulder as we sat in the dim movie theatre, memories of waking up early just to catch the sunrise with him. All good memories, except for one.

I remember that day as if it happened yesterday.

He called me around 4 pm and when I answered the phone, the first thing I heard was a sigh from Tom.

He asked me to meet him at the park so we could have a picnic and I was confused because that came out of nowhere. A million thoughts started to race to my mind, why did he sound so worried?

Was he moving away?
Was he going to break up with me?
Did he find out that we were actually related?

I snapped out of my thoughts because everything sounded so ludicrous. I went to my kitchen and prepared four tuna sandwiches and packed some grape juice because come on, no one is too old for that.

The park wasn't that far from my house so I decided to walk instead. When I finally arrived he wasn't there yet, so I decided to lay the blanket on the grass and arrange the food on the tray that I brought.

I sat up and saw Tom coming from the other side of the park. As he was walking closer he said:

"Alexia, I need to tell you something important, and you have to try and understand."

"What is it?" I gulped, he didn't even say hi to me, is it really this important?

This was it, this is what people say when they want to break up with you. Might as well just run into a tree, maybe it would hurt less.

"I want you to run away with me for awhile."

Oh thank God. When I heard those words, a sigh of relief escaped my lips. But that was until my mind just processed what he said, my eyes widened in shock.

"W-what? You want me to run away with you?" My palms were starting to sweat as I was dying to know the reason why he would want that.

"My parents are pressuring me to do so much stuff, they expect me to be perfect. It sucks to be compared to your older brother who's so successful, and it's making everything hard, especially for me to accept who I really am. I'm not happy, Alexia".

My heart shattered, and my throat felt dry.

"Am I not enough for you to be happy here?" My voice started to quiver.
