A/N: I'm not a day late. You're just a day early. Psh. Totally not.
Chapter 2: The Dawn Awaits pt. 2
The Village of the Blue Dragon. An important village that houses the special, all-powerful, temperamental Blue Dragon. What a great lie the elder of the village created to keep other people away from the fake Village of the Blue Dragon, where yet another rumor was spread to keep whoever found the village away from the actual one. All for what, you may ask. Well, to be frank, I do not know. It most likely is due to his major fear of the Blue Dragon, also known as Sei.
"Listen, son. I want you to stay away from the inhuman monstrosity and the demon's daughter."
"Okay, father."
I sighed, annoyed and aggravated from the constant swarm of rumors that flew through the village like a group of angry wasps. The supposedly-secret whispers danced through the cold tunnels that wove through the labyrinth of rock and stone. Nothing was hidden for long in these echoing caverns. My long, sensitive ears weren't long and sensitive for no apparent reason.
The dark blue-grey stone path below my feet gradually turned to a dirt path. Gradually, the corners of my vision started to pick up the fabric of yukatas and sandals, all pushed up against the side of the cavern that I stalked through angrily. I could hear the shallow breaths the adults made as they cradled their hyperventilating children close very clearly. I could feel the angry glares set on my back.
I let out a half-crazed grin and stood up straight. "You wanted something of me?" I asked, looking at a man that wore a dark blue mask with long, pointy horns. My dark eyes zeroed in on the green eyes that he hid behind his dark mask. He gulped before he slowly shook his head.
Turning to the rest of the villagers that had inched closer to the end of the tunnel, I called out, "So you're just going to leave him here? I didn't know that you humans could be so..." The smirk on my face widened and my eyes swept over every face in the room as I drew out the word, "Cruel." The man that I had glared out scampered out of the area, unfreezing everyone else as they all ran back from where I had came from.
Once I was sure that they had all left the area, I let out a sigh. Scaring the villagers had once been fun, but it now boring and about as unexciting as scaring a mouse. Why were they all so boring?
My feet tiredly carried the rest of my weight towards the cavern that I knew Sei was sitting in. Sighing again, I entered the dark, cold area.
"Sei." My voice echoed in the cavern, and I sat down next to him with my legs pulled up to my chest.. I closed my eyes and rested my pale cheek on my knee. A little squirrel known as Ao, happily named after my father, climbed onto my shoulder and just pyuchuu-ed there.
"Ama...ya..." he greeted me quietly.
We stayed there, resting peacefully for a long time, peacefully thinking in the darkness. I don't know when Ao- the squirrel- left , but he did. My mind swarmed with useless thoughts.
"Let go! No!" I heard a few turns away from where we are. It came from a young-sounding girl with a high-pitched voice. The Blue Dragon immediately rushed up and ran out of the dark hallways. I sighed before also clambering up and slowly following him, but then thought better of it. I'm tired; just gonna sit here and wait for him, I decided.
"Hak! Hak!" she shrieked, and, very faintly, the sound of a man gasping and stumbling down some stairs. I clucked my tongue. Tch... Do the villagers have any respect? I mean, seriously... Just dragging her down the stairs to this never-ending labyrinth of a land?
I heard their footsteps echoing again, uneven, until they almost disappear. I smile. Sei must have taken her back to the third layer of earth. Not a full minute later does Sei come bounding back, then proceeds to hesitantly sit down. He holds his hand out in front of me, and Ao appears from the inside of the silver-blue hair in his mask. I moved myself away from the door and moved to sit back down next to him.
