I've just been born,
only a baby you see,
Not a worry in the world,
nothing troubles me.

I have no past yet,
for my life has just begun,
I have a bright future though,
and towards that I must run.

I zip through my childhood,
so full of cheer,
Always eagerly awaiting the coming year.

After that I'm a teenager,
living care free,
I live only for the present,
for that's all I can see.

Soon I'm a young adult,
out on my own,
But I'm surrounded by friends, I'm surely not alone.

I have plenty of time you see,
I'll settle down now, maybe start a family.

I need a job now to prepare for my coming days,
No need to hurry though, I still have a little ways.

Yesterday has slipped my mind,
And tomorrow has been suppressed by the daily grind.

By now I've reached my middle age,
But in the book of life, that's just another page.

My life is only half over,
I have many chapters to go,
I want to do something with my life,
but I always have tomorrow.

The days seem short,
and go by faster now,
I still want to do something,
but I don't know how.

Sooner rather than later,
my life moved towards the end,
It goes by so fast,
faster than the wind.

Now I sit alone,
with only my past,
Where did my life go,
it left me so fast.
I have no future now,

any day could be my last.

What happened to my life?
I had so much to give.
I guess I got bogged down in the strife,
And I forgot to live.
